I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

Attempt 2: More MEAT, less silly things like clothes, etc.

WTF? Even with 2 Miners, a woodcutter, carpenter, mason/engraver, farmer/brewer & farmer/cook my dwarves can live off all the food & booze the embark points let you have for the entire first year before I need to even think about starting up food/alcohol production. By which time I've had the first 2 migrant waves & the first dwarven caravan (more mouths to feed but more consumables added to your stockpiles from the caravan hopefully balanced out by more diverse skills with which to start production or at least help haul things around the place).

Other than 7 copper picks for your miners, what are you wasting your embark points on? You don't need the battle axes, seeds, or medical supplies you get added to the default embark. The wiki says "Dwarves require 2 units of food and 4 units of drink each season." so 112 meat & 224 drinks should be enough to keep them going for 2 years. That's only 448 points if you buy 2 point meat (dog, horse, cow, donkey, mule etc). You should have more than that if you're not bringing any animals or the other unnecessary stuff I mentioned. Note: you could also butcher the pack animal which pulls your wagon to the embark for more meat.

You know what, let's just drop the entire subject, I made a mistake, I brought too little meat, I made a bad joke about clothes which just infuriated people. I'm going back to how I play regularly. Seven Miners has brought me nothing but trouble.

Not by default, unless you count what your dwarves are wearing, but yeah, you can save a decent number of points by getting rid of the extra splints, bags, rope, quivers, and whatnot.  Take a breeding pair of dogs for meat, leather and bones.

You could set one or two of your early migrants to stonecrafting, with all the extra stone you're going to get.  This way, there's something to offer the autumn caravan, whose supplies will be sorely needed by the time they get to you.  With enough crafting and selling, you should end up with a hefty surplus of food and booze without having to make any yourself, and you may cook the extra for great profit.

I usually bring a huge amount of milk, then just turn it into cheese.
Milk is only 1 embark point.

OT, but do you have to turn it into cheese? My dwarfs seem to not care whether they are eating milk stew or cheese biscuits.

The raws say that milk can be eaten raw. In other words, it's a perfect food choice when you're looking for economy.

Milk can't be drunk on its own. But yeah, when I think about it, one milk and one seed is two embark points and makes 2 food when you cook it into biscuits. If you bring a good cook, then it will be good food and produce a happy thought. I guess.

For some reason I'm usually slow to start food and booze production. Oh no I know why it's because I worry about beds and tables first.

So you're saying the raws are bullshit? According to them, milk can be consumed (eaten as opposed to drunk, since it counts as a meal) without preparation.

Maybe there's no code that defines eating a liquid?
All I know is, I've never seen a dwarf consume milk.
