I tried your suggestion, but the dwarves aren't doing anything.

Hit i, designate a zone (somewhere outside or near a mason's workshop preferably), then make it a garbage dump area. Sorry, forgot that part. Make sure you have some hauling dwarves.

edit: amended post, white_darkness is right, the stones would do much nicer next to a mason's workshop.

You need a garbage dump zone set via the "i" menu.  Since it's stone you're dealing with, just put a 1 tile space with "i" ~> "g" next to your mason's workshop.  Once it's there and active they'll start hauling.

Watch out though, dumping seems to be fairly high on the priority list so if there's a lot it will slow everything else to a crawl. Unless you deactivate stone hauling on most of your dwarves.

Dumping anything, be it stone or rotten prepared cat spleen, uses the refuse hauling labor. Stone hauling labor is used to bring stones to stone stockpiles. ... Stone?

Or if you just don't want to see them, d-b-h.

As it turns out, the pen was in fact a poor choice for melee combat in comparison to the sword.
So I just started playing this game and I accidentally nuked the moon.

But they will still take up space in your stockpiles, and if you have legendary miners that's a bad thing.

Atomsmash.

Designate a dump underneath a bridge, thy dwarves (dwarfs?) shalst take it there, and thou shalt lower the bridge, turning thy needless stone into it's component atoms.
