5 years on alpha, up to release .32-ish.  At this rate, it'll take 15 years to reach beta stage, and likely 20 to reach final release, so ~35 years before this monster is for sale!

I love dwarf fortress but i avoid overplaying it and avoid adventure mode altogther for fear of spoiling the finished game for myself,but i look forward to a fully fleshed out game with attractive graphics one day,but surely it should be ready in no more than 5-6 years tops,i could see this game selling as good as the civilisation series.
