After abandoning a fortress..

In a peaceful situation with a large fortress with a well trained army, I know it currently doesn't exist as a fortress, but a ruin.

But afaik the dwarves aren't just deleted - I've seen my own dwarves milling about outside in an adventure mode visit;  Do those dwarves become historical figures?  So for example would a 5+ legendary megabeast slaying swordsdwarf relocate himself to another mountainhome as an adventurer?  Do the peasants take up residence elsewhere to practice the art of cheesemaking?


Are they cut loose as proper historical figures or do they just putter around the former embark site until death?

Couldn't swear to it, but I believe they just wander about aimlessly.

There's not much happening in the world after worldgen yet, I'm pretty sure they'll just mill around the abandoned site.
That said, I haven't actually checked, so I might be wrong.

Are there still migrants on the world map during adventure mode like 0.31.12? Because I'm pretty sure that's how dwarves got home in that version.
