A couple of questions about how abandoned fortresses work

1) Does water stay where it is when you abandon a fortress? Or does it disappear/move around/fill up all available area?
2) I understand most things move around in  a fortress after abandon except heavy containers and their contents. Is there any other way to keep objects stationary?

I'm sure I'll think of more questions eventually. I'll post them up later, and thank you for any help you can provide

1)I think it stays until you go there again, then it moves.
2)I don't think so, apart from building stuff with whatever it is you want stationary.

Make the heaviest bins you can manage. Heavy things do not scatter as much.
