I never got creatures. People say its complex and scientific. All I see is retards desperately trying to play with a ball. and failing.

Charitably, this is pretty much 70% of human endeavor, so I wouldn't be too hard on it ;P

Creatures biology sort of fails though...

Unless there is some sort of unlimited generator the wildlife in Creatures tends to die.

In Creatures 3 I honestly consider Gaia (that no one can find anymore) a required download because without it your environment pretty much fails.

The biology of the creatures themselves is surprisingly complex and simple. The fact that they actually get game changing mutations helps.

I remember there was a game where you manage the ecosystem in the arctic, but it's name and most of it's features totally escape me.
Edit: Adventure arctic, thanks google!

I tried to get Evolution working on Windows 7 a little while ago and failed miserably. Has anyone played it recently?

Spoiler: The error I get (click to show/hide)

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

More RAM than it expects?  Maybe you're running a 64-bit machine?  Dunno.  There's gotta be compatibility modes somewhere, though I guess they might not help.

Darwinbots sort of fits the bill.  If, that is, you want to learn to script your own creatures and carefully set up scenarios.
