Interesting game.

And dammit, I didn't say I wouldn't claim!  I said I'd have no useful info.  All I could tell you is that Jim wasn't a PWV.

We actually discussed things some D2.  If I had trusted him more we could have started a town power base.  I *almost* protected Web N2, which would have made things much different D3.  Oh well.

Not to mention, ALL THE WARDENS DYING
ALL OF THEM, DROPPING LIKE FLIES
All but you, mate! You were indestructible! But yeah, the other wardens were delicious. Especially Wuba!

Yeah, you were definitely right about me. I'm surprised that I passed for town after I made that mistake of voting you.
Also Native, something I completely forgot until reading Jim's action PMs now is that you should have claimed spending N1 and N2 building more tracking devices... good no one picked up on that. In addition, I think our playing LIKE MORONS and forgetting to set off the tracking devices D1 worked in your favour, as it made your being a lonely townie scientist more likely. Who would ever think the four dopp team would be as STUPID as to all forget about setting them up?

How you get away with crap like this, I'll never understand.
I fully understand your sentiment, but don't quite share it. I find Org very irritating some times, sure, but that comment you quote was less exasperation and more reluctant admiration. I don't know how he gets away with shit like that, and I find it often amusing (and often quite maddening as well). But at the very least it's original and unpredictable, which is an element I like in my games. I wish he was also useful on top of that, sure, but don't overly project your conclusions on others.

Also, please note that when I say to KILL BOOK, you KILL BOOK.
Sigged!   8-)

Hey, I resemble that remark! Nah, I'm just more verbose than others, but they were all team decisions.

So Jim baby, how was your weekend?  8-)

And dammit, I didn't say I wouldn't claim!  I said I'd have no useful info.
I'm not going to fish for the quote, but from memory it was something like "you'll get nothing out of me", which I interpreted as "I'm not playing the claiming game!" Obvious guardian, vig, or anti-town. You were dead the moment you made that remark (assuming no blocks/protections saved you).

Overall, I agree that the dopp vig was quite powerful; I did even say it on my first post on scumchat: "the town is already hosed!" But the possibility of it must exist, or vigs would be confirmed townies... like the kook business, which while I was being disingenuous scum at the time, I maintain must be a null tell, otherwise kooks are confirmed townies, and we can't have that. But yeah, balance discussion is for the other thread.

Overall, excellent game, thank you Meph and all! it was endless fun, and great job by my fellow dopps! Here's to victory, boys! Drink deep of the blood of your enemies!

Oh, and Jim, thanks again for preventing the Friday shorten. I never had so much fun as obvscum as during that weekend. My favourite part:
Um...wow. Book. Are you even trying to hide the fact that you're scum anymore?
Yes! Uh, I mean, no! Uh, no, not that either...
I know: NO U, NATIVEFURRINER!

God, shut the fuck up.

Having two kills a night and getting really lucky during Night 1 is a gloooourious scum victory and certainly an excuse to be a giant asshole to everyone about it.

Relax, Bookthras. We won, but we won largely because the Dopp Vig is something that should not be allowed so easily in this game and we shot/ate the thing that was meant to counter it by blind luck on the first night.

Relax, Bookthras.
Bookthras is the personification of relaxed contentedness, yes.

We won
Shit yeah!

but we won largely because the Dopp Vig is something that should not be allowed so easily in this game
True. It must be allowed, though, so what does that "so" mean? It certainly musn't happen easily, but for it to be fair it means that odds allow it to happen at some point, just unlikely, and it had plenty of counters (we with no mind shields or guardians whatsoever, five or so town psychics, Ext with mind shield, townie with bot, guardian, and so on). It just happens to be great that it happened with us just now, doesn't it?

But your wording makes it sound like we won by coincidence and chance, which wasn't the case. For good or ill, the dopps played great, and won deservedly. Any question about that? Let speak anyone who failed to lynch me D2 (and oh they could sooooo have (hugs to Leaf and Jim!)), or you D3, or NK either of us (which we had already taken as a foregone conclusion!), or prevent any of our kills, or even smell Arg or NF before N2... but they didn't, did they? They must recognise that they were beaten fairly and squarely. Or Town: do you feel you were unfairly beaten?

The dice did not win this game. We won this game.

and we shot/ate the thing that was meant to counter it by blind luck on the first night.
And on the second, too. Luck, yes, on ours and others' actions, but skill too... or why did wuba die? Wasn't he supposed to live if we had left it to chance? I remember exactly what the coins said: they said "Toaster dies, wuba lives", and we said "fuck that, kill'em both". So no. Luck, yes, surely. But skill as well. Do not take the Dopps' earned victory away.

Book: Yes, we won and we earned it, but viewing the setup it becomes clear that the roles were extremely swingy; one side was probably going to absolutely dominate the other, and the town got Org.

To clarify what I said (despite being really tired since it's 6 AM and I haven't slept yet), with how roles were, one of those teams was probably going to absolutely dominate the other.

Go figure, it ended up being the team that can actually choose to knowingly target the enemy team.

Massclaim:  Meh.  You wouldn't get anything from me.

The word "useful" should really be in there.  I even clarified to Argem, but that was lost in the shuffle, I guess.

Anyway, this game ended up being a lot like Super3- the scum team got really lucky about negating its power counters and ended up dominating.

I would actually consider removing the possibility of dopp vigs altogether.  Both times we've had them they broke the game open.

Really, town has to lynch them very early or lose.

You can give them a higher weighting, but I don't actually think there's any town PR that is on the same level as a dopp vig.

Or at least have a higher ratio of town-scum when including vigs

Power roles to balance it out are less helpful and become more coin-tossey, but having even just one extra day of breathing room could help town immensely without sacrificing the uncertainty of a vigclaim

Both options lead to the possibility of confirmed town which is rather powerful, particularly in an open PM game.

I wouldn't be strictly opposed to removing them entirely. Even a town Vig is generally more of a liability than a boon to the town.
