(Oh, that's what's going on. When you gave locations to explore relative to Copperflow, I kind of assumed they were closer to Copperflow than Lake Tranquil, and so I got the east/west part mixed up. I'd fix it, but unexploring terrain is kind of iffy; seeing as how you've already seen it.)
The Oro defenders, exploring the mountains, are set upon by a pack of dire wolves. After an incredibly long, grueling battle, the gnomes eventually break and run. Fortunately, this doesn't happen until after they do enough damage to the wolves to thoroughly discourage pursuit.
The road crew working southeast of Lake Tranquil reports that, due to the mountainous terrain, construction is going slower than had been hoped. This means, unfortunately, that Mount Skyreave is in for a tough time until the road can be completed. They won't be able to send any resources back home until then, and, while they won't quite starve without food shipments, they certainly won't be growing either.
Off to the east, the exploring galley meets a tribe of merfolk. They're friendly enough, but have little to trade other than pearls. The explorers, knowing that Xeniice produces pearls itself, are uninterested. A road coming from the south leads to a small bay near the merfolk.
