If you don't know why I'm laughing, scroll all the way to the bottom and look at the price.  And then look at what the price was before the discount.

If you buy it you're an idiot a grandparent who used to be a huge enormous railfan, but don't have enough floor space now, and you can't get your grandkid into it anyway but he loves sitting on your lap and driving the train so it's worth every penny spent for that precious time together, doing just what you always wanted.

It makes PERFECT sense when you think about it.

Railfans spend absolutely obscene amounts of money on their hobby.  Yeah they get something that is really cool and that they made out of it, but still, it's like Warhammer on crack ^ 3.

So someone comes along and says "Hey, here's a game for sixty bucks, you can actually drive around in first person!" And they say "Now that's cool...but uh, I could just put a camera on my train!" And then they say "But could you drive it a few hundred miles along the coast of the United Kingdom?" And they go "Ooooooh."

Later on, you come back to them and say "How would you like a new locomotive for twenty bucks?", and they say "!!! If I bought a new REAL model engine like that, it would set me back five times as much!"  And you say "How about a whole new terrain for thirty bucks?" And they say "Well that's pricey but if I built it myself my knees and my back would hate me forever!"

PERFECT.  MARKET.  They expect to pay a ton, and you can give it to them almost for free.

And at the end of the day...for people who don't play other video games, and think that these graphics are totally awesome, for whom the game is exactly the game they want, the PERFECT game they want, the Dwarf Fortress of Trains...how can you say it's not worth the money?

Dude don't even joke about that, I got my retired-farmer grandparents SimFarm for Christmas when I was a kid and then got addicted to it myself wait.  It's real, isn't it.  I'm not going to look.  I would probably actually buy it, you jerk.

What is the poooiiiiiiint?

This reminds me of the Steam Christmas sales most recently- Half Life: Lost Coast (which is a teaser for the rest of Half Life 2- think Portal: The First Slice) could be purchased for a meager $100. And that was at 80% off!

Whoops.

Except this isn't an accident. This is what they always charge for this game. Seriously.

Why would you even buy a train simulator? You don't even steer trains, you just stop occasionally!

That being said, I may have to buy this. Not all the downloadable content, just the game.

I believe Railworks is quite popular in Germany. They have a thing for this kind of "game". Like Forklift Truck Simulator 2009

SimFarm is infinitely easier to get into and reasonably complex.

I'd be willing to bet it was made because of this video... if it looks boring at the beginning keep watching.
