Start a fort. Play a year. Upload the save somewhere for the next guy.

1. Find an original idea/concept for a new fortress
2. Create a post about it, include any rules you want
3. As dwarves reply to your post, keep your main post updated with the list of player
4. Start your fort, play the first year and post regular updates on what's happening in your fort.
5. After the first year, compress your save in a zip file, upload it to dffd (http://dffd.wimbli.com/)
6. Post the link to the save
7. Notify the next player by replying to your post, and also send him a PM

Then keep track of things and manage things to keep your community game alive.

4. Watch other people play the fortress

I'd start a fort and play a year, maybe telling the other people about events as they occur.
Then, after a set amount of time, pass on the fort to the next player.
Rinse.
Repeat.
