Odd Acting Bitch
« on: February 10, 2011, 02:47:04 am »

So, my dog (who is female) acts really oddly around my girlfriend. My dog usually sleeps next to me and, although I don't really appreciate the doggy breath in my face of the morning, it's useful for keeping the room warm.

Whenever my girlfriend stays over, however, the dog acts very oddly. She'll still sleep on the bed, but often outright rejects or ignores my girlfriend (rarely, if ever, plays with her like she does to everyone else, she's a gnawer when you play with her and she never ever does that :|). Then, for a few days afterward, the damn dog gives ME the cold treatment by sleeping on the floor and moping about the house.

This is just some weird crap right here. Anyone got any advice on how to stop my dog being emo about me having a girlfriend? :p

Your dog is jealous about your girlfriend and shes taking it out on you and her since she cant speak to tell you she dislikes your girlfirend.

Its not gonna get any better, since your dog is reacting to your girlfriend's scent hormones, which is shown by how it acts.

I had a cat that did the almost the same exact thing...animals are emotional little things arnt they?

Just like humans [/joke]

But this is natural, just keep bringing you GF around, the dog should eventually adapt.

Obviously your girlfriend is a werewolf and your dog does not take kindly to the she-wolf taking your attention from her.

I've never had this problem with my own dogs, so I don't know of a solution other than letting your dog get used to your girlfriend. Are you ignoring your dog when your girlfriend is around? If so, that may be part of the problem; your dog probably wouldn't like that your attention is being taken away from her whenever this girl is around.

She need o be recognized as a master too.

Huzzah, we can get to sensible advice.

Have your girlfriend start hand-feeding the dog so pack status and order is established.

The dog leaves him for the girl.

You're on the right track, but in fact the explanation is that the dog is actually a girlfriend stuck in dog form.

Well you have two solutions.
The first is to, like has already been said, get your girlfreind in on the chain of command. Have her take the dog for walks, and training and such... You get the idea.
The second, and most likely significantly more effective in the long term, is to go on a quest to the land of Olk'Marish to seek the aid of a druid, who will be able to transform into a dog himself, so he may talk to your dog and try and act as consolt on the issue so that your dog can understand that it should take breath mints.

That won't work, the druids all moved to Kamenor.

Wait a minute: you want a druid to act as consort to his dog? wouldn't it be easier to just get another dog for that?
