Waste is a good thing.
The waste to water plant is more efficient usually then the normal water production plants.

I love my hydrocarbon plants.

I still have 3 invites to give out (edit: plus there are two people who haven't been on in a week or more) and I could upgrade the embassy for 2 more relatively quickly if needed. Let me know if you want an invite.

In other news, I settled my third planet and the colony ship on the way to the fourth got shot down because of that defense update (grr... the update happened in between when I sent it and when it arrived). Guess I get to look for another planet to settle instead because I don't feel like fighting my way to anywhere.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Actually. I've got a huge surplus of energy as well.

It's really easy to get.

Hey, mind if I join the alliance? I've just started and this seems fun enough to steal some of my time. Drax Empire is my empires name.

Could I obtain an invite, Saint's Landing.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves.  The obvious solution is to chain the baby up at the entrance as a kobold detector.

Two questions:
How fast are new colonies supposed to be made? I've got three planets now, and I'm about 500-600 hours of happiness production(not counting the bonuses from food types) from my next.

About posting trades, what's a good trade? I imagine some resources would be more valuable than others, and I believe you can trade ships directly as well. And since Essentia is the currency, what rates should I charge?
EDIT: I just noticed that ships appear to require a much bigger ship to transport it. :-\

I never understood why they did that.

I had enough to make my fourth colony in a reasonable time with only 3.5k happiness production.

Check the resource trades in your zone, then put something up and see if it sells. If it hasn't three days later, lower the price per unit. (I sold 60,000 mixed resources for 1.0 essentia in about a day, roughly the time it took the 20k for 0.1. The 40k for 0.6 still hasn't sold.)

All ships take up 50,000 cargo space. Somehow.

Look trough the missions you get in the command building.

I've gotten an 100k, a 55k and a 45k cargo ship trough them.

Meh. Planets come relatively quickly, but don't use your happyness production as a timer for when you will have xx amount of happyness. I get ~200k happyness per day outside of normal production, simply because of the "Happyness if you have more then 3 times of food" bonus.

Interesting. When you Push, if you set it to Stay at Colony(which, I'm figuring, transfers that ship to the destination colony), you'll still need to send at least one unit of resources, but the the ship does not trigger the Incoming Ships indicator.

Yeea thats the bad thing about the update, you don't even have to be in conflict with someone and stuff you send nearby will get hit. Me thinks they need to fine tune it so that you have to declare war on someone (or they you) for that to occur.
