Current Status
IMPORTANTThe fort is still in it's setup phase. Projects cannot currently be worked on, and dwarves are in short supply. This doesn't stop you from planning ahead however.

Projects-Get the fortress into shape (Done)
-Get farms running (Done)
-Wait for the first migrant waves (Done)
-Get Steel industry running (Done)
-Don't die (Still Alive)
Project 1:
Magmine-Dig down to the magma.
-Relocate steel industry to the magma sea.
-ALTERNATIVELY: Build magma pump stack and bring the magma up!
-Design guild hall for steel workers.
Potential GuildsCrafters ( Can be divided into separate industries, like stonecrafters, bonecrafters, leatherworkers, clothiers... they take care of exports, mostly )
Mechanics and Architects ( They go hand-in-hand! Bridges, pumps, power networks, traps, you name it! )
Haulers ( What? It's a legitimate profession! And somebody's gotta do it. Not sure about projects though... probably something with corridors and passageways. )
Fortress Guard ( Justice! You need jails and a small squad of decent soldiers to carry it out. )
And more...
1. When joining, you may either join an existing guild or create your own ( if there's an untapped industry, you can make a guild for it ).
2. Once you're in a guild, you may propose a project relating to your guild. If the rest of your guild likes the idea, and I have enough materials and dwarfpower to spare, I'll begin work on the project.
3. Projects can be anything from large constructions to simply mandating that something be made, within reason of course.
4. Roleplay is STRONGLY encouraged! You're pretty much all greedy dwarves trying to further their guild's agenda. Plotting against each other is also encouraged, to keep things interesting. As long as there's no harassment or outright griefing, anything goes.
5. Have fun!
Hello everyone!
I've been playing 0.31 ever since it came out, and I still think it's a vast improvement over 40d. I don't miss the old military, or the time before useful soap, or when you could safely ignore contaminants. What I DO miss, however, is the economy.
"But, the economy was the worst part of the game! It was barely functional, bloated, riddled with bugs and would slow production to a crawl! Minting coins was suicide, and it was just plain better to disable it!", you might say.
Well, I won't deny the above. It's kind of a pain in the ass, and I never did mint coins myself. But it did offer something that's severely lacking in Dwarf mode: Mid to late-game challenge. A typical fort of 80 dwarves strong is usually well-prepared for sieges and forgotten beasts. It's that stretch of gameplay between overcoming sieges and opening the HFS that I always felt was missing something.
The economy was the only thing that could stir things up in the late game. If you couldn't deal with it properly, then you risked tantrum spirals when the out-of-work migrants get evicted and can't pay for your masterwork roasts.
Sadly, we lost that in the new version. But I want to bring it back alive somewhat. So what I'm proposing is a community fort where the participants act as the 'voice of the people'.
- Every player will join a guild. ( Miner's Guild, Mason's Guild, Stonecrafter's Guild, ect... )
- Each guild will decide on a project that will further their goals, and keep their members busy.
- Guilds may have to compromise with each other, or even make alliances and enemies. (Masons would love having Miner friends, but might not see eye-to-eye with Stonecrafters.)
- The projects should be small-scale and shouldn't take more than a year to complete.
- You can decide on a specific design, or leave it up to me.
This ensures that the fortress is constantly expanding, with the possibility of conflict between dwarves. It's the perfect risky endeavour that the economy should be!
So, posts your thoughts, tell me what you think, and if you're interested! I'll be back later tonight and see if I can organize something and get started.
Have a nice day!
