Dom had moved slightly, her body tense, and positioned herself a few feet behind and slightly to the side of Ashley. "OK, four things, boss. One, what business? Two, you want to throw me to the wolves here? If I go with them they can get that third guy back on his feet and then it's three on one, and we both already know we can't trust these guys. Three, I still don't think they'll leave this place alone. Not without some kind of collateral to ensure they won't blow it sky-high once they're clear of the blast zone. And four, you and I have a deal too, remember? I don't like getting my chain jerked around and I'm already not in a good mood. Don't make me believe that I can't trust anyone but myself here."

Taric shakes his head, sighing. "Dominique, this is about your deal. I found him. To answer your other concerns, first, judging from the report of the immortals that killed him, Jordan's corpse is irreparable, and I'm keeping it anyway. I have no doubt that you can kill both Ashley and Harry should it come down to it.  If you have any doubts, well, I'll send you an escort. Two, they couldn't get a signal through this forest with anything short of the comm array that this base has spike through the canopy. Which, I'd like to add, is the same one they sabotaged. Three, I'm not asking you to trust her anymore than I'm asking her to trust me. I'm asking you to babysit her, drop her off at her folks' place, do your business and then bring back my ship in one piece."

"You... what?" Dom blinked, the simple sentence deflating her tension and mixed emotions like a needle to a balloon. He found him? Already? That's... that's... A feeling of relief washed over her... quickly followed by cold dread. If he was found, then that meant the Technocracy definitely had brought him here - and might still have him. And that meant he might be in a VERY bad situation. ...I'm coming for you. Nothing's going to stop me now. "Right. Right. Yeah, I'll get Alonso and Basilio to come with me or something. That'll be fine. What ship are we taking?"

Taric blinks, his primarily sociopathic mind caught off-guard by Dominique's rapid change. "I, well, there are still a couple trans-at shuttles in the hangar that you can borrow, piloting will be automatic." He regains his balance quickly, but it's obvious that he expected to have to do a lot more convincing. [Observation 13] In fact, he seems... a little unhappy that he doesn't have to convince Dominique to leave. "There are still a few things I need to talk to you about privately before you leave."
"Ashley, unless you'd like to try and make a very foolish attempt to kill me, you're welcome to go collect Harry. You will be escorted by a pair of immortals to make sure that you don't leave any little surprises behind you. That isn't negotiable."

(Sizier still crushing on Dom? :P)

Dom quirked an eyebrow. "Yeah, sure. We'll do that while Ash is rounding up Harry. What about, though?" she asked.

"Alright I accept, I would like to check out these survivors on the way out though, if what you say checks out, I WILL actually recommend an alliance between the Motherless Sons and you.  You wanted me dead there was no reason for you to set up such an elaborate fake, which is why I want to talk to them, rather than just trust the video mind; video is enough for what you are asking however"

Harry, I have found some, uh, evidence that throws doubt into the Voice still being here, I need to check it out, but if it clears we may have an ally against that bastard.

I think we're 1-1 on Tarran being dead vs. not dead.  Any other takers?

Ashley Fey

"Alright I accept, I would like to check out these survivors on the way out though, if what you say checks out, I WILL actually recommend an alliance between the Motherless Sons and you.  You wanted me dead there was no reason for you to set up such an elaborate fake, which is why I want to talk to them, rather than just trust the video mind; video is enough for what you are asking however"

Harry, I have found some, uh, evidence that throws doubt into the Voice still being here, I need to check it out, but if it clears we may have an ally against that bastard.

"Which bastard?" Harry's voice whispers back into your mind. "I'm losing track of the number of bastards we're fighting. Sizier or the Voice?"
"The Voice," you send back quickly. "I  think Sizier might have actually been telling the truth."
There's a silence in your head for a long moment. "This better be some damn good evidence."
"Good enough to take the risk. I'm coming to get you, there will be an escort with me."

((You don't have to make actions until Dominique is done talking with Taric. Unless you have an action that you want to take while you're waiting for her to get done.))

Dominique Wakeman

Dom quirked an eyebrow. "Yeah, sure. We'll do that while Ash is rounding up Harry. What about, though?" she asked.

Taric waits until Ashley leaves before speaking. "First, I have absolutely no objections to you killing her in transit. Trading information for technology could be profitable, but I already have Jordan's corpse. Poking through that should give me most of what I need to know about them. Second, I," Taric coughs slightly and looks vaguely embarrassed. Which, for him, is an impressive feat. "Well, I found the information on your husband in the sub-notes of one of the primary research files. They were the first things I investigated for my own purposes, and I actually finished an hour or two before you woke up. He was mentioned only once, and he never actually set foot on this base. He was part of a series of concurrent experiments run on an orbital, and the project lead on this facility requested that Jeffrey Wakeman and a dozen or so other subjects be transferred here for study. The request was denied, but I still have the log and the location of the orbital. I just don't know what kind of state your husband is in, that's why I didn't tell you sooner. The experiments were testing a form of biological additive, an additive which killed all of the test subjects on this facility. Your husband was requested for study, which might mean that he survived, or it might just mean he left an interesting corpse. The more important thing is that... I don't think he's one of us." Taric frowns and looks away from Dom, going back to tweaking his collar. "We're valuable to them somehow, too valuable to waste in experiments that will probably kill us. The prison was meant to study psionics, but it was also meant to indoctrinate us. This experiment, well, it had test subjects, lab rats, nothing more. I think your husband is just a human, which has some unfortunate repercussions."

James Evan

James uses a slam on the ceiling, in an attempt to knock it loose a bit or to knock a small hole in it, for light to find Tarran and to see what that liquid is.

[Slam 22+1-1, full radius, 15 kN] You bring your will to bear against the ceiling, realizing a second too late that this might not be such a hot idea inside an enclosed space. [Control 21-1, 50% refunded] [Luck 11, 21] (-8 Stamina) The wave of force hits the crushed roof of engineering, sending a rebounding shockwave back down into the slime that covers the room. This would be very unhealthy for you if the slime in question wasn't impact gel. For a moment, it seems that, aside from splattering half the room into the air, the psionic attack was ineffective. Then the broken ship groans around you and the floor shifts downwards.
The sounding of groaning metal turns into a shearing squeal, and a crack of light appears in the ceiling. You scrabble on the slick floor as the room shifts, trying to keep pace as down shifts under you. The slice of light widens, breaching open wider as the Virtue's back finishes breaking. You watch as the foggily glowing underside of Mahdavi's canopy is revealed to you. You had no idea you'd be this grateful to see it, but you feel as if you're outside for the first time in years.
In the new light, you check the rest of the engineering bay for Tarran. You find him, bloody, bruised, unconscious, and up to his neck in the slime that has now gathered in the bottom corner of the room. [Medicine 18+1-1] You give him a cursory check for additional injuries as best you know how. He has a pulse, and aside from the giant chunk of metal in his leg, he seems mostly intact. You do, however, detect a large knot on his head that wasn't there before the crash, and you're almost sure some of his ribs are cracked or broken.
The opening in the top of the top of the compartment is a fracture that runs the width of the room. It's about eight feet up what used to be the floor, and you think that it's wide enough for you to squeeze through, if you can get up there without slipping.  Getting Tarran out safely... That's a different matter.  [Observation 6-1] Between getting hit in the head repeatedly and the partial deafness from the noise of the crash, you can't tell anything about what's going on outside.
The skin of your chest itches.

Tyrin Laveros

Quote
Cue ensuing dramatics. Hobble to safety! Provide suppressive fire with my Broadbeam--that is, take a precise shot at one of the enemy troopers clearly in sight (from the map). If not, go to suppressive fire. ((GM Note: Later changed to aimed shot))

You tell the colonist that those ahead are allies, and he continues to help you walk forwards. [Mobility 16, 6, avg 11] The two of you manage to hobble a short distance forwards, his support giving you the free time to try and line up a shot at the smoky figures to the south-east.

Anna Witheld

Quote
Head in the direction that Tyrin went as quickly as I can manage, staying in as much cover as possible. Keep an eye out for him and regroup.

[Mobility 9] The smoke in the air makes breathing difficult, and you're too tired to push through it and sprint. You jog slowly but steadily to the north, following Tyrin and the other colonist at a short distance.

Marshal Feuer

[Probe 10+1-2][Probe 17+1-2 Vs Tyrin P.Empathetics 5][Probe 12+1-2 Vs Anna P.Empathetics 3+2]   The marshal swiftly probes all three of the approaching individuals, moving quickly and not bothering with the subtle approach. The results for him are surprisingly positive. "Witheld, Laveros get over here," He shouts through the smoke. "Wigs, burn anything down that moves and isn't them. And somebody get a kit out, they have wounded."

---

Damien Smith

Well then, approach the rubble cautiously. With my gun out. Ready to pew-pew.

[Mobility 16+1] You leave the destroyer staring at the flaming impact scar to the north, jogging over to the ruins of the colonist structure.  [Intuition Hidden] You can see gaping holes riddling the floor and ceiling of the the building. Dust, smoke, and faintly glowing pieces of metal are all that can be seen inside, but it might be worth a look inside to see if there is anyone left inside. [Observation 6] Between the fire, dust, and billowing smoke, you can't see a damn thing inside or beyond the building.
Your radio chirps briefly, the destroyer's CID popping back up. Apparently he's recovered enough of his wits to start moving. "Team is pushing north and west, sir. We have your location, do you need backup?"

((Wow, them ROLLS))
Alright... before James focused on getting Tarran out, he needed to figure out where "out" was. And as such, leaving Tarran alone for a moment, James slipped through the crack and tried to figure out what was going on. And why did his chest itch?
