The Trooper shoots James again as he charges. Death is mercifully quick, your spinal damage was bad, but the lack of a heart that's anything more than a lump of hamburger killed you in seconds.

Your hands are bound behind your back roughly, you can wiggle your fingers a little but the bonds are tight enough that you can feel your pulse throb in your wrists. As you start to come to the pain comes back, you can feel deep bruises on your chest and back, your jaw hurts like crazy and you can taste blood in your mouth.
You have a brief moment of groaning pain and then you try and sit bolt upright remembering everything, your hands are bound behind your back but you can look down at your chest. No gaping holes, no spurting bodily fluids. Just severely bruised skin, you're so happy you could practically cry. Just one horrible, incredibly painful dream.
