Dominique, who had watched far too many action movies in her day, figured that that sound meant the shotgun was about to blow up. So the best thing to do would be what that insistent voice in her head kept saying and stopping that Immortal from getting close to her by using a Shear to stop it in its tracks.

(I'm just going to with 115 stamina and the -2 penalty usage, although I get the feeling I'm going to roll low if I gamble like that. >.< Might as well try it anyway.)

Most useless cover action ever.

Get out of cover and switch to the Artemis, before firing it at Skirmisher 1.

Roaring in annoyance, James proceeded to get the heck out of the range of that shotgun, taking out his Piru and firing it at the Immortal if he could.

Tarran Smith, Dominique Wakeman, Taric Sizier

Dominique, who had watched far too many action movies in her day, figured that that sound meant the shotgun was about to blow up. So the best thing to do would be what that insistent voice in her head kept saying and stopping that Immortal from getting close to her by using a Shear to stop it in its tracks.

Roaring in annoyance, James proceeded to get the heck out of the range of that shotgun, taking out his Piru and firing it at the Immortal if he could.

Spoiler: Initiative (click to show/hide)

Jake empties the second machine pistol into the nearest immortal. [Fire Control 6, 25% hit] [Confirm critical 4 Vs 2, Critical confirmed] The immortal, turned to face down James, takes the bullets across a weaker section of its armor. [Armor -16, -8, -24, -20] Biological fluid oozes steadily from the armor, pulsing unevenly from the long crack that Jake just tore in it. The immortal's attention, formerly fixated on James, swings to land on Jake with murderous intent.
[Luck 4] Back by Dominique, the acid covered immortal's gun fails to explode. The keen it's generating is getting more aggravating by the moment, but that's the extent of its current harm. [int 2-1] The immortal, however, was never programmed with any knowledge about its gun other than the basic shoot-until-everything-stops-moving imprint, and it pulls the trigger without a thought to the weapon's instability. [Explosion 3+2] The gun, its containment system damaged by acid, loses control and detonates the instant the Immortal pulls the trigger. (Immortal 2 armor -37,  HP -10) The radiation burst burns a hole in the Immortal's armor, cutting through the overgrown chitin and burning the flesh beneath. The immortal, deprived of its weapon, flexes its serrated arms and roars. Suddenly, coating it in acid doesn't seem like such a hot idea. (Immortal 2 Armor -11)
Tarran, leaning around cover rather than abandoning it entirely, switches to his newest rifle and 'tests' it on the immortal that Jake just wounded. [Quickshot 5+1-2] The rifle is unwieldy as all hell, even at this distance, obviously designed for long range shooting, but he makes it work. The rifle kicks like a mule, and the muzzle flash isn't much good for stealth, but it punches the immortal with enough force to make its other properties forgettable. (Immortal 1 armor -19, HP -22)
James, facing a carapace armored linebacker with a shotgun, retreats. [Dex 3] Forced to dodge around chairs and tables, not to mention holographic projections of things that 'might' be there, he doesn't make it quite out of the gunner's effective range. At least Jake managed to get the thing's attention. Right?
Dominique [Shear 4+1-2] glows. The holographics in the room flicker and go out of focus, Tarran's gun goes dead, and, to Tarran and Dominique herself,  two very physical walls slam into the near immortal from opposite sides. Everyone else just sees the immortal snap in half, spraying blood and ichor as its body is pinched in half and knocked apart. (Immortal 2 Armor -27, HP -647) The immortal looks... surprised as its halves stop twitching.
The surviving immortal levels its shotgun at Jake, taking vengeful aim before it fires. [Quickshot 3+1] Jake burns. [Jake Armor -9, -7, -5, -4. Jake HP -5, -8, -13, -6] The remnants of his tattered armor protect him from a fiery death, but that only serves to let him scream.

(James is at short range to Immortal 1)

The four of you split the findings. You take the Fenrir and the energy cells for it, Paula takes the Manticore and the thirty cal clips, and everyone but you takes an ORS pack apiece. You end up with the first-aid kit.  Henry uses one of the applicators while you sort things out, and Paula pokes the turret idly. (Henry Hp +15)
[Paula Int 2+1] Paula's poking turns nothing interesting up.
   "We got a plan?"

(Henry is regenerating (3))
(Henry is no longer bleeding)

Fire my Artemis again at Immortal 1's spine, pelvis, or leg. Anything to get him stumbling.

Tarran Smith, Dominique Wakeman, James Evan

Dom switched out for her Abassy and took a shot at the remaining skirmisher while scrambling for cover.
"Jake! Fight through the pain and get behind James! James, help Jake!"

Fire my Artemis again at Immortal 1's spine, pelvis, or leg. Anything to get him stumbling.

James grabbed Jake, trying to haul him out of the way of the Immortal.

Spoiler: Initiative (click to show/hide)

Another blast of light and sound overwhelms the screams as the Immortal fires again. [Quickshot 4+1] (Jake Armor
-3, -3, -2 , -2. HP -8, -9, -15, -12. And Kill.) Jake's screaming ends abruptly as bits of him tear away, trailing smoke as they spiral through the holographic clouds.
Tarran, ready to help coach Jake through the pain, stops in surprise mid-sentence. That... that wasn't fair at all. What the fuck was he supposed to have done? [Dex 5+1, speed load successful]  Snarling and replacing the energy cell that Dominique drained, he sights the Immortal's knee and lets the Artemis kick him again. [P.Kinetics 4+2] There's a feeling of something lining up, a feeling that he remembers from way back on earth, then the recoil hits. [Quickshot 4+1+2-2-2] If the immortal had even an inkling of what was coming, had even been facing Tarran when he fired, it could have shifted the centimeter necessary to avoid the rail slug, but it never did have that inkling. (Immortal 1 Armor -15, HP -29) [Immortal endurance 3-2+1] The slug tears out the side of its knee, putting it down on one leg and wrecking the joint. At least, it would have been wrecked on a human.
Dominique, exhausted and drained, has her back turned when Jake dies, but the absence of screaming is enough. [Dex 2] It's enough to make her stumble on her way to the cover of the door. She makes it, but not with enough time to add to Tarran's attack.
James, too slow and too far away to help James, [luck 1] [Pyrokinesis 5-1] (-20 stamina) sets a couch on fire. This outcome seems as surprising for him as anyone else.

(Jake Fern has been killed)

"Well, we could try to go towards the surface seeing that our resident bleeders stopped bleeding, this floor is a little hot for my tastes"

There's a general murmur of agreement to your suggestion. Stopping for the ORS has increased your odds of survival, even if it did get you set on fire a little, but you don't fancy triggering another one of those turrets when you don't have the option to get beneath it. It's time to get moving again.
The four of you jog back to the central corridor, avoiding open doors and blind turns wherever possible. You're doing better than some of the teams before you, and you don't intent to fuck it up by being careless.
A couple creative detours find you by the elevators and stairs. The stairs are going to be slow and tiring, but the elevators will make you stick out like a sore thumb. Paula informs you that the floors above you are all labs until you hit the citizen administration on floor 9, both the stairs and elevators will terminate there. There will be another set of elevators and stairs that run higher, but they'll probably be located all the way across the floor, a feature which Paula describes as "military bullshit".
