@Darvi: You could make an argument for either side, but I'd think it depends on intent.
For the original question, I'd say yes. I could summon up so many examples, but I don't think I could explain any of them to an adequate degree, so I'll leave off of the actual discussion on the issue for now.

Does misunderstanding also cover differing opinions?
It probably covers people not understanding the opinions of others, but not simply disagreeing with someone else.

It's a tossup, as most problems are caused by a combination of the two and other factors.

Misunderstanding no, ignorance yes.  Acting on incomplete information is a recipe for disaster.

Ignorance and hatred very often go hand-in-hand.

Ah. 'cause I'm sure that most unnatural problems are caused by the fact that any two groups just can't compromise and have to fight each other. Like many disputes that are caused by both sides claiming that their opinion would be the only correct one.

Other than that, while more problems are caused by misunderstandings and ignorance, those caused out of malice usually are worse and can get even more worse by the previous two causes. So I technically agree with the statement.

Ignorance and hatred very often go hand-in-hand.
Exactly.

Misunderstanding no, ignorance yes.
Not quite so sure about that. Do you know when you want to help somebody, but misunderstand what they said and make things worse? Happens to me all the time.

I'm neutral, they pretty much both go in together to cause problems. Ignorance and misunderstanding usually start hatred and malevolence, unless you're dealing with someone who's just hurting you because they can.

I'd have to go slightly agree. A lot of problems are caused by people being stupid, ignorant or misguided. Fewer problems, but generally really nasty ones, are caused by hatred.

...Agree.  I don't think malevolence for its own sake is very common.  Obviously part of the problem with ignorance and misunderstanding is hate, though.

Pah, optimists!

If all those nuclear weapons just laying around don't do us in the antibiotic-resistant virus's will.

It may be bad form to dig this up, but this is probably what will get me.  I carry a highly resistant straing of MRSA.  My last infection put me on antibiotics through an IV for over a week, after the infection conquered almost my entire arm in less than 24 hours.  The first two days it kept getting worse.  Then they put me on the most aggressive dosage they safely could of the strongest antibiotic available for targeting that type of infection, and that put it at a total standstill for 4 days before it finally began to recede.  That was my second MRSA infection, and it was twice as bad as the first one.  I can't imagine how bad the next one will be, and I'm pretty sure it will happen eventually.  Cases like these are becoming more and more common.

So please.  Don't use antibiotics unless you really need them.

I'll keep that in mind.  I've only taken antibiotics once, when I was in elementary school and had a terrible ear/sinus infection.  I'll ask my roommates to switch to normal soap, too, rather than antibacterial.  Thanks for the reminder.

(I don't use that sort myself, but I may be able to convince my household to change their minds)

I'd never even thought about antibacterial soaps, but I guess that's probably a major contributor.  What really gets me is the people who have to stuff themselves full of drugs anytime they're not feeling great.  They seem to forget their own immune systems will do the job if given the chance.  I think medicine should be reserved for when something actually threatens well-being, or circumstances require one to be at their best.
