Apparently your dorfs god, "Doren the Gem of Jewels" apparently is there because your dorfs wish your fort to be wealthy and prosperous. The wish for wealth is a common thing among dorfs, and because of that you have "Doren the Gem of Jewels". "Doren the Gem of Jewels" has been obviously crated by your dorfs so that they have someone to pray to in hopes that those masterwork crafts you might of sent off will make the fort prosperous.

Jewels are precious things.

When something is described as 'a gem', it means they're especially precious or valuable.

Thus your god is the most valuable of all jewels. He / she is the Cream of The Crop, as it were.
