I'm not sure a 0-10 year old can join the forums, but I'd like to meet the little badass whose early development consisted of learning how to harvest Goblinite and construct magma cannons.

Hey we are "generation facebook" so many people dont mind to hand out this data. In some cases it might be bad to do it but this survey is anonymus and everyone who posts in here hasnt to revel anything about him/herself/variation thereof .

That kid is learning some very important life lessons such as how to treat your neighbors when they come to visit.

I'm just warning against artefacts arising from expecting your response to be a random sample of the population.
While this is practically impossible in a voluntary poll.

At least DF players tend to be computer savvy no matter the general tendency of their age group.
Still, 'Generation Facebook' will always be overrepresented on forums and certainly will be freer with personal information, doubly enriching your poll.

You could ask Toady (or a moderator?) to give you a listing of ages in the forum profiles...IIRC age was mandatory, one could lie, but I expect general honesty. :)
edit: ah no, not mandatory. But then, that just makes those that do list their age in their profile less likely to lie (out of mischievous principle).

27 here.  Working on teaching my 6 year old DF.  It's kind of difficult when he's just starting to read :P

He's incredibly enthusiastic about it, though.  I'd rather wait until he has better basic reading skills so I don't have to dictate everything to him, but he wants DF now.

Get him hooked on Dungeon Master or Evil Genius. Same game mechanic, only with sound gamehints and a learning curve that does not need crampons and pitons and a rope harness.
He'll switch to DF in the blink of an eye.
