Annoy you/make you declare war on me::Same. Not an option.

I see no other likely source for the dark elves to have attained their apparently non-renewable Sky Diamonds, and it perfectly explains why the village distrusts me.

I still don't want you scouting my colonies and more then you want me scouting your capital, and that wouldn't open a trade route anyway. I'll check this turn to see if there's anything worth settling along the lake for, but if not ... The best route is from your soon-to-be iron colony to my capital. Your canoes should have enough range to get from there to me.

One other piece to our trade agreement: I want you to help against the dark elves if they break the peace and attack me again. In return, I'll send some military aid if you need/want it from an aggressive NPC.

Yeah, your right, I suppose that does seem likely.

And yeah, it would open a trade route, since vanigo said a route to a colony would work for trade (as a road is automatically build between adjacent villages/colonies).
I'm not quite sure settling along the lake would be very smart, since it would open you up to attack from my (tiny) navy, as well as the dark elves if they want to attack you, with you being unable to assist them with your navy.

I think I should be able to handle any hostile NPC's I come up against. As well as thinking that it might be a long time before I run into one strong enough to challenge me (given that currently I suspect that I am more then the equal of the dark elves or the orcs).
However, if the dark elves attack you without provocation then I will not hire myself out as mercenaries to them for two turns after they stop attacking you (during which you can promptly stomp them till they desist),  provided you can give me the gold that I would regularly get from mercenary work during that time.

EDIT: OOOH, I am stupid, I thought that you got money equal to half your population, but it turns out that you get money equal to half your prosperity.

Why do you threaten me every time we engage in diplomatic talks? I realize that my military is too overstretched to properly defend my colonies against even one foe, let alone two. You, however, are also overstretched, and if you're taking me down, I'm sacking as many of your holdings as possible. A war would be mutually destructive and terrible for both of us, rendering us easy pickings for any other player in the next age or two, even if you're safe from them right now.

It would give me a road to an NPC village on the river, yes, but I don't think NPCs work as trade posts.

Sorry if it sounded like i was threatening you, it wasn't a threat. It was me giving you the advice that it wouldn't be very smart due to the fact that it would be easy for me to attack (IF we did end up going to war) and hard for you to defend.
That said, it would leave you easy pickings, since I am so far away from everyone else that they won't be able even explore to me, much less attck me for a very long time.

I was saying earlier that i would scout to it, but not to any of your other colonies if you did found one there, and i could use the NPC road to your colony from the lake to trade with you (as long as they weren't actively opposed to it)

Vanigo said earlier that one of you needs to know a route to the other's cities. Having that route pass through a neutral village might or might not work, but you'd still need to have mapped an actual path, I think.

You might be able to use the village as middlemen, but then I assume they'd want a cut.

My turn's almost ready.

Can I get a variant of Sea-Charmed Keels that use money and/or increased labor, to stretch my Sky Diamond supply to more then a single ship upgrade? If not, what would a Springwater Pearl (and probably money) only variant be?

Vanigo: Could I mix Water+Air gems for faster naval exploration?
Sure.

Sea-charmed Keel (Ship modification, +50% movement, requires non-canoe ship)
    Ephemera Magic
    2 labor (Enchanter's workshop)
    1 sky diamonds, 1 springwater pearls -> 1 sea-charmed keel

Hmm. If you had more magic techs, I'd let you do a water-only version. Get Infusion first, then we'll talk.

Happery, I'm not sure what this:
Quote
15: Magic weapons : Iron Polearms\
16: Magic weapons : Iron Polearms/ <-Build with Wood
17: Magic Armor: Iron Armor\
18: Magic Armor: Iron Armor |
19: Magic Armor: Iron Armor/
means. Are you building the polearms and armor from ingots, and then enchanting them? Or are you enchanting the ones you already have? In the latter case, I don't know where you think the wood comes in, and since you've got an enchanter's workshop you're putting too much labor in.
Ahra, you're still not using all your labor, and I have no idea what you think you're doing with "(26)Furs".

You don't need to use labor to use the furs.

Right, fixing. Shows me for posting at that hour in the morning. Also, got fed up with doing the resource stuff by hand and made an excel sheet for it. Anyone else want a copy?

You should probably at least use your spare 2 labor to smelt bronze. :-\
