IronyOwl, beast taming requires you to build a beast pen, then go out and capture some beasts with your military units. This fills the pen and lets you train that species of beast. To capture a second type of beast, you'll need another pen.

Yes.

Also, I don't think beast pens are described anywhere; how much do they cost and are they buildings or terrain improvements? Do training beasts follow any kind of pattern (military unit, mount, specialists, etc), or does it vary wildly by beast?

Capturing the beasts sounds like Fun at any rate.

Also, I did eventually realize I only had one air charm and fixed it, but it was evidently too late to be noticed.

The kitchenette mold free, you move on to the pantry. it's nasty in there. The bacon is grazing on the lettuce. The ham is having an illicit affair with the prime rib, The potatoes see all, know all. A rat in boxer shorts smoking a foul smelling cigar is banging on a cabinet shouting about rent money.

Huh, so they aren't. 4 labor, 3 stone to make a pen, and they're buildings. As for the beasts, it varies by species and sometimes by who's using them - only small races can use wolves as mounts, for instance.
Okay, added them to the reference post. Buffed the guildhall while I was at it, too.

More questions!

Can settlers travel and be expended on the same turn they're raised, or is there the standard delay between having and using?

Is the tile with silver on it predominantly plains or hills, for the purposes of roadbuilding?

Is it possible to get any information out of the merfolk now, or do I need to send someone back up there with more specific instructions?

Does movement speed affect supply range, or is it a literal distance limitation/balanced out by how much horses eat?

Is it possible to build walls around your colonies, or otherwise upgrade them?

Um, just asking that Iron Working be added to my list of researched techs, as I did get that a turn or so ago...

I remember back when the warmongering goblins of Zrlv were attacking the peaceful halflings using small quantities of troops and failing, probably because of Pandarsenic. Happy times.

Now it's imperialistic gnomes attacking warlike dark elves with swarms of sometimes-well-equipped troops and probably more galleys then are actually required. I hope I win this time.

You have to wait a turn between building the settlers and building the colony.

Plains. You don't actually need a road, though; the river works fine. Also, squares with cities and colonies effectively have free roads.

Your guys have already left, so, no. You can give them a standard list of questions to try and answer whenever they meet a new group of people, though.

Just a flat distance.

No, they do their own upgrading as they grow. Although, come to think of it, "free palisade on colonies" is a much better effect for the city-fortress than what I have there now.

Happery:
Oops, I'll fix that.

Happery, you need to turn your iron into iron ingots before you can use it to build a smithy. Or do anything else with it, really.

Ah. I missed that. Fixing.

It seems like roads can go diagonally across tile sides. that's correct right?
Personally, i think that Sun charms should add magic damage.
Especially since my mages will be using Firebolt wands, and Sun charms are fire themed as well, so it makes sense that they would stack together.
Except that +1 magic attack is way more valuable than +1 attack. That said, I did say you're welcome to invent new magical goodies, so once you get Energy Magic, I suppose you can try and make amulets of the burning sun or whatever - just don't expect them to be cheap.
How expensive are they/will they be (now that ive gotten energy magic)?
(They would be a upgrade on top of existing sun charms preferably because that seems like it would fit).

Edit: What's the cost of a dockyard?
Ah, did I not put that in there? Huh. It's 3 labor, 2 wood.
I think I will give you the food - there's no way you'd have spent it in the name of playing it safe.
Shazam. My search Fu has found the answer.
