Tell me more about these gods and spirits. What do their worshipers say about them? What powers are attributed to them? What are their goals and desires? How do the elves express their reverence? Obviously it's going to vary from god to god, but give me the big picture.

There are a range of gods and spirits. For each 'element' of the earth there is a governing spirit. There are also spirits that take a river, forest, mountain or sea. God's themselves can have a range of portfolios. The most commonly worshiped gods are: Ivila, A goddess of elves. She is a female elf that has long white hair, and normally carries a bow. Haru: The huntsman god, who is a Deer with white markings, seeing him will guarantee a good harvest. There is finally Tamara, the goddess of magic, who's hair weaves into the surroundings. Even seeing her in a dream is a good luck charm and apparent energy powers...

I don't know. It just feels like the only way to really get a strongly decentralized city-state centralized quickly is by introducing instability.

Yeah, miracles are like that. Rarest positive event in the game, of course, but the impact is far bigger than any other event - except Disaster, which is the exact opposite.

If you're not happy with the discord->unification, why do you feel that you need to centralize power at all? Not that there's anything wrong with what you've written, of course, and a new government is a great way to differentiate between ages - something I'd like to see more of from Ochita, incidentally.

Soon it seemed to the average Sidamaruian that the whole world was out there for the taking, and they simply needed the will to do so. Lius was eventually made chieftain on the promise that she would follow the river to its end, and find the great lake that nomads had told them of.

The People of the Sidamaru are a curious lot, given to the search for knowledge. Their long period of peace has convinced them that their is little modern need for more then the most basic of military force. Meanwhile, their shamans have been gaining in status, and some people think within a few years they shall replace the warriors as the ruling caste. As the population has increased, differing groups of goblins have been banding together for mutual support, in factions that have come to be called Clans. while none are currently dominant, each has a different view of the future then the rest, and constantly argue over the proper path to the future. One issue currently watched in waryness is the increase in the population of the gifted, goblins born different then their kin. Some are mearly larger, some live longer, some have strange color shifting skin, others have weirder, though mainly cosmetic, changes. The Shamans claim that these are gifts from the spirits, but many are wary non the less. As the years pass, it looks more and more like the biggest threat to the Sidamaru are each other.....

To get where I want them to be, I'd like for them to have a tradition of having one ruler.
I'm not particularly displeased with it, but it does feel a bit off somehow.

Everything there looks pretty decent, but it all seems to be "The same, only more so." Having continuity between ages is good, but so is mixing in some significant changes.

Sometimes bad things happen; GMs usually like honest, realistic roleplaying and reward it. Not saying Vanigo will, but I've known GMs to harbor grudges because people want to play it safe or make their stuff uber.

Sometimes I think I should've made time for this, Van! :(

There have recently been major changes to goverment, due to the infamous 'wood' tax where elves had to give 20% of all their wood... Now there is a circle of elves, each elf representing a 'group'. The groups are: The learned, huntsman, life-bringers, water-stealers and the home builders. They hold meetings and decide on what direction the city should go for the year, the sage's daughter oversees the meetings, and makes notes on what happened, although with no way to put down into words remembering it all can be a chore..

Well, they've gained an interest in magic and animals, which wasn't really there before.

But yeah, mostly more of the same. I'll have to think about if there's anything more significant to alter, but it kind of seems like the age change itself isn't especially significant.


Sometimes bad things happen; GMs usually like honest, realistic roleplaying and reward it. Not saying Vanigo will, but I've known GMs to harbor grudges because people want to play it safe or make their stuff uber.
Age-end changes are just to give Vanigo an idea of how your civ should change, not how well it should be doing. "They eat lavish feasts everyday" isn't any better than "They suffer horrible horrible famines," except in how much you value extra farming techs or a famine resistance trait, and those aren't guaranteed in any case.

Age-end changes are just to give Vanigo an idea of how your civ should change, not how well it should be doing. "They eat lavish feasts everyday" isn't any better than "They suffer horrible horrible famines," except in how much you value extra farming techs or a famine resistance trait, and those aren't guaranteed in any case.
I read it more as "They want to eat lavish feasts every day; whether they can pull it off is another matter", which isn't god-modey at all. But, yeah, I don't want to see banal, "My civilization is developing in the way I think will be strategically superior" stuff.
