Bronze Pick.

And on the inventory being too large...STOP PICKING EVERYTHING UP, MAN.

I personally don't pick up anything but a few spare weapons and any armor I can currently use. Everything else is pretty pointless.

Find a cave to store your spare stuff in. But I find it smart to keep a few trinkets on me, if I find a nice weapon or piece of armor in a shop.

Buying stuff isnt the problem and neither is weight, I can walk into a town and literally buy everything with the shear amount of spare junk and gold I got, (I actually dont take any of the copper coins, and only take the silver coins to trade em for gold elsewhere), its the massive amount of separate inventory items...I have 20 pages of unequiped light weight valueable clothes, and another between 1 and 20 pages on single coins or 200 stack gold coins, and a constant page of gems odds and ends between 1 and 2 pages of weapons and throwing junk...

I just walked into a town gaining a page in gems/coins and junk and dumping all the clothes random spare coins, and I still have 10 pages of blue/green items that are randomly arranged, to the point that I have to look through every page to see what kind of head equiment I got.

Yeah, the silver swords and spears probably aren't very good at all unless you use them for blunt attacks.

Inventory could stand some work, particularly if you could expand/close containers and had some sort of money pouch that worked like a quiver. Hell, maybe have containers work something like stockpiles and have item types you pick up automatically go into certain containers. That'd be great for inventory management.

Anyway, do what Lovechild said. Lairs and caves = storehouses. Carry only your battle gear and maybe a few large coin stacks so that you don't have to drop by your storehouse to buy something on the off chance you see something worth buying. Also, sort the items you need to be able to find into bags. Don't be afraid to drop your backpack and pick it back up to move your inventory down below your equipped items.

This is what has worked for me.

Truth. Loot is only useful for buying iron gear, and after that it's useless clutter. Obsessive hoarders should just stash stuff in a night creature lair.
