Everything was exploded into a fine mist, yes.

I'm glad I jumped into the vegetation... the first enemy attack with a confirmed crit... talk about ouchie.

Yeah, that kinda worried me, honestly. But it worked out in the end.

Also, I'm quite proud of my idea to use Detect Magic as a cheaper See Invisibility spell  :D
(P.S. if anyone else has similar ideas for how to use magic cleverly, I'm quite open to hearing it; my character is all about being clever with magic.)

Considering joining, though the time is somewhat inconvenient for me.

Detect Magic isn't a perfect way to detect invisibility by far (you need to spend 3 rounds staring in one 90 arc, and even then it only tells you the square they're in, which still gives them a 50% miss chance), but it's definitely a cool idea. Here are a few other tricky uses for Level 0 spells:
  • Someone being sneaky? Cast Light on their armor to make hiding significantly more difficult.
  • Trying to poison someone with nasty-tasting poison? Use Prestidigitation to mask the taste.
  • Need to make a deal, but low on funds? Prestidigitation can also make cut glass look like gemstones, or copper coins look like gold for an hour, which is long enough to make a deal and skip town, or pay a ransom and escape
  • Need to sneak weapons or items into an audience with the corrupt king? Throw it in a 5lb bag of holding, and use Mage Hand to float it to somewhere you can retrieve it from once inside. Same works for sneaking things out.
  • Need to scale a wall? Mage Hand can also lift 50 feet of silk rope and loop it over a branch or parapet, or hoist 10 feet of silk rope with a grappling hook.
  • Trying to scare someone in the next room, or trick would-be ambushers into giving up their position? Hide out of their line of sight, and use Dancing Lights, Ghost Sound, Mage Hand, and even Open/Close to create haunting noises and sights, voices speaking in an appropriate language, loud thumps or monster sounds nearby, or the sound of adventurers approaching from the opposite direction, followed by flinging the door open.

And, for shiggles, get the Invisible Spell Metamagic.

Invisible Concealing Mist + regular Invisibility = haha, screw you True Seeing/See Invisible.

See, becuase they can't see you without those, but if they use them, they can then see the fog. And so still can't see you.

Invisible Prismatic Spray is also good for getting headaches.

Are non-core non-monster races allowed?

Depends on what it is.

Also, I'm not really looking for more players, but I can add you to a waiting list in case someone quits/doesn't show up to multiple sessions.

If there's a session next sunday, I won't be able to make it. Got an exam on the day after.

So what's happening? Does LAN this week mean we're postponing? I'm beginning to think that we might want to find another weekday.

Nah.  The LAN happens once per month.  It's just not a fixed weekend each time.
