Homefront, that other FPS
« on: February 06, 2011, 01:41:04 am »

So, coming out on March 11th over here in America is Homefront, an FPS set in the conquered remains of the United States, controlled by North Korea. Basically, it's Red Dawn The Video Game, especially considering said movie's Script Writer is the writer for this game.

Anybody gonna get this?
I'm probably just gonna grab this for the singleplayer and for the novelty of crashing helicopters into M1 Abrams.

god i hope it doesn't end up like Turning Point, best fricking engine ever made and you used it to make a overhyped shitty game.

WOLVERIIIINEES!
Said line is my secondary battle cry, next to various assorted yelling.

Also note, said Writer for game was writer for Apocalypse Now.
Expect Napalm in the morning.

I'm excited, yet apprehensive. Some of it looks like it could easily degenerate into generic FPS shootem up, ala Duty Calls

So, I'm gonna wait for the initial reactions before buying :/
It's just too easy for it to slip into mediocrity.

Will this "the war comes to YOUR HOME" gimmick have any use for anybody who doesn't live in an american suburb?

The "HOLY SHIT, WASHINGTON DC ON FIRE" maps in MW2 were identical to every single "bombed out city" ever and I didn't even notice the fact that it was supposed to be super-emotional until somebody told me that I'm a democrat and I should be kicked in the balls for my lack of respect of "my country".

I appreciate rationally-plausible fictions, but North Koreans invading the U.S.??? Unless they collaborated with China, that would not even possible and even if they did, the war would not easily take place on American soil! MW2's plot was also bullshit.

Note: I am not an American.

Napalm is great if you enjoy hot and spicy foods. I personally enjoy some liquid nitrogen.

I wish I could play as the North Koreans. The scenario makes no sense, but an invasion of the US is always more fun as the attackers (like in Panzer General, Red Alert 2, etc.).

Also, I'm not one to normally bitch about graphics, but some of the burning effects in the trailers look pretty bad.

The only problem I have with this game is that every forum aside from this i've seen it on has loads of Americans (i'm assuming anyway, they spell honour like them anyway) scoffing at the fact that North Korea invaded America. It makes me facepalm

We've been doing that too.  It's a ridiculous scenario, why does it bother you that people are calling it out on that?
