Huh, how cheap is BF2 these days?  I might look into it.

At most $20 I think, it's old enough that I've got the game on 5 CD's.
It's worth it.

is there any game-play footage for battlefield 3 yet?

also the promises of prone and 64-player support on pcs seems a bit silly, i hope that was just so rumors dont start that they wont be in and not that those are actually supposed to be selling points.

Considering FPS ports to PCs have become so lazy, that NEITHER of those things are considered standard anymore....and I'm glad they made it a point to promise those features.

You're SOL though. It's not a rumor; it's straight from the horse's mouth.

In other news, here's 30 seconds of what I assume is the campaign's first level.

I wonder if they'll release a beta.

I'm still buying this, but definately not for the singleplayer. It looks like a standard, boring Modern Warfare-like rail shooter.

A couple other things I've teased out:

-No dragging opponents or friends in MP. (Sad)

-Firing modes for weapons are coming back (Very happy.)

-Player HUD flickers in response to weapon firing/suppression effects.

-Health System isn't finalized.

Not much, but shows off the graphics and a little terrain destruction.

Edit:
Opps. Forget this, shows some story.

Flailing people to death with empty socks, though, that takes a lot of effort. Less so if the sock's made out of something interesting, but generally quite difficult.

http://blog.wolfire.com/2011/03/GDC-session-summary-Battlefield-3-Radiosity Wolfire have a summary of how they're handling lighting. Sure it's a graphics whore thing but..is that a problem? I'm always fascinated by the tech side and their use of Radiosity is interesting. Also: more PC Superiority, as PC radiosity will be realtime while console will be baked and static. What this means for us graphics whores: when a building is part destroyed, the fancy lighting can update properly to make it keep looking awesome :D

So, this is 12 minutes of the game's first mission, with the boring walking parts cut out. I have to say, the split second of jet fighter combat looks sweet.

Eh, Battlefield will always really be about the multiplayer- they're only putting in a campaign because it's so expected now, as a standard.

I'm definitely going to play this. Me and my father played BF2 and BF2142 together.
Then I played a day of BC2's multiplayer and I didn't find it too amuzing.

But I'm pretty sure that DICE will make a good work on BF3, my guess is that they'll evolve from BF2 and not from the other games...I had much more fun on BF2 than on any other.

Also, playing Strike at Karkand in 2011, with destructible environment, better graphics and with my new rig?
Ha, this is going to be awesome.

To all infantry out there, join my squad and let's kill some n00bz.

It honestly feels like a lot of their problems came from the fact that their entire team was composed of cats, and the people who were supposed to be herding them were also cats.

Here's two videos from E3:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2c5gLhMfq0Q

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fUp4-kAQEE

Watching them I was vacillating between "My god, that looks amazing" and "That looks like CoD."

Sometimes these kinds of trailers piss me off. 2.5 second cuts are barely enough time for your brain to register anything.

Anyways, game does look pretty amazing. A couple new areas are shown off, like an underground metro tunnel and a nice suburban landscape. Release will be in late October, beta starts in September.

That...shit...looks...amazing! I'm gonna have to go buy a GTX something specifically for this game, I'm sure.
