It is the year 2427. For the last 150 years, Earth has been united under a single government. You are one of the nine elected leaders of the Coalition of Human Interests. Peace and prosperity have been the norm by your fair and just rule, which is following a long legacy of benevolent leaders.
Until three years ago, that is.
In 2424, recently-discovered comet C/2417 N2 passed within close proximity to Earth. In the years leading up to the date, conspiracy theorists and the hopelessly paranoid speculated that that comet would strike Earth and bring about anything from widespread social chaos to the end of all life.
They weren't entirely wrong.
The antitail of the comet contained strange life forms capable of surviving both the vacuum of space and the intense heat of atmospheric entry.
These life forms were scattered all over the planet as Earth's orbit took it through the antitail.
Using a strange biochemical process, they rendered themselves visually invisible, hunted down sleeping humans and stealthily inserted themselves without leaving any marks or wounds. After insertion, they worked their way up to the victim's brain, and with bioelectric appendages, manipulated their hosts thoughts and behavior.
Society broke down over a month. The CHI tried to keep order, but many of its members and enforcers were also taken over by the strange creatures. It didn't take long for the decision to be reached: Earth had to be abandoned.
The remnants of the CHI gathered 99,000 verified clean humans together in a remote valley in South America and began construction on an interstellar ship capable of transporting all 99,000 safely to the nearest Earthlike planet.
The ship was done in less than two years, a remarkable feat even by 25th century standards. Everyone got on board and the ship took off - it all seemed too easy.
Yesterday, you and the other 8 leaders met in a meeting room at the top of the ship to discuss the issue of keeping everyone civil and sane for the next several years.
Suddenly, there was the screeching sound of metal being torn above your heads. Air started rushing out of the ship through a breach. A moment later, one of the ship's redundant airlock layers kicked in, sealing the breach. The only problem? Two unidentified life forms managed to get in to the meeting room.
Because they are no longer showing up on the ship's scanners, and you are the only nine people here, you can only assume two of you have been infected.
In order to prevent widespread panic, the nine of you decided on a dangerous course of action - you quarantined yourself from the inside of the room. Nobody is allowed to enter or leave until these life forms have been found and dealt with.
Luckily, there are ways you can discover who is infected, even after the parasites have claimed a host, and it all has to do with behavioral analysis.
You must question each other. The Infected should be recognizable through their behavior. They will try to manipulate and lie to you. You mustn't let that happen. Above all, you must put the will of the many above the will of the few. Order can be kept on the ship with at least one surviving representitive, so as long as that one surviving representative isn't infected, the situation will be saved.
If you wish to seek advice, you can rely on IronyOwl, your chief of security. He will advise you by yelling through the door.
The parasites, after claiming a host, are dependent on the host to stay alive. If the host dies, the parasite dies too. The parasites reproduce asexually, but that takes several weeks, so that will only be a problem if they are allowed to leave this room alive.
Get to work.
