I NEED HELP

I made a demi-god character, made him good in a lot of stuff, picked up a pikemen and a tanner to help with my quests, headed to a fortress to slay Ordred the Lasher and was killed on the way... By a llama. WHAT THE FUCK?!?! What did I do wrong?

raise the dificulty ... no it eases you , being a peasant is hard , shearch for hamlets with shops , it will have a sing near the entrance , on the map the buildings that are shops will be somekind of yellow , i guess , shearch that in hamlets

this is Dwarf Fortress. EVERYTHING can (and will) kill you. And if you have luck you can destroy the world using a sock as a weapon.
Once I found an idra while wandering around with a new character, I stabbed him in the upper body and he vomited for 3/4 of the encounter. I killed him without any wound, then a bandit killed me with a knife. Think about this.

The llama was bigger than you and it could kick. Kicking can break bones and cause catastrophic injury like sending your fractured ribs through your lungs.

What kills is arrogance. Which is why even though I'm superhumanly tough and agile, with over 400 kills to my name, I hardly ever have the arrogance to assume I can just take somebody on in melee competely. So I throw arrows and sharp rocks at people until they fall over in pain, happens pretty quick nowadays. That's all the help I can give.

llamers have hoofs, hoofs are knuckle dusters for the feet.

allways rember that it only takes one blow kill any thing.
