So, I was in the Depths, trying to get Kirk to invade me.
When.
I got cursed by a Gravelord.
Alright.
I managed to get cursed again, this time by a basilisk, searching for the summon sign.
Sadness.

Wewt I broke the difficulty cliff!  I took out the gargoyles with little problem, got both the axe and the shield, and now I got the black knight greatsword! And I won when I got invaded!

I had a string of 4 bosses i one shotted up until quelagg around where you are. 3 of them were the same life too.

Yep, now I'm forcing myself to get better by trying to get as far as I can at lvl 3.  Just rang the first bell.

So, i've started playing again.
So, this morning, so far:
I made a new character.
I'm doing a "Weapons that don't scale" Run.
So, Drake Sword and Heavy Crossbow are my main weapons for a while.
Anyway, I've been nigh-invincible so far, with a nice 1200 Health.
I'm sure this will all change as soon as I head into Blighttown though.
That place kicked my Zweihander characters ass.

Are you going down the valley of the drakes entrance? that lowers the difficulty level significantly.

hmm, I hadn't thought of that. You're talking about the entrance at the Ruins of New Londo?
Good idea. I could grab some dragon scales while im at it.
Maybe join the Dragon covenant like I wanted to.

yea that one. if you don't have the master key you can go through the forest to get to the valley of the drakes and get there

Drake tip: Use the biggest weapon you have. They stagger pretty easily (1/6 - 1/4 of their health). Get behind them and they might move you with them when they turn.
Also they drop scales rather rarely (20% with Serpent ring) so you probably won't want to bother farming unless you've no other way of getting scales you need.

Yea thanks for the tips, i decided to continue with my current char as it seems fine build wise and ive not missed anything important i think.  Im just starting to run around collecting essentials or cool things i didnt know about.  I tried to not use guides but there is just too much to miss thats kinda essential to get further into the game.

I think im about level 12 now and not really done much from Firelink Shrine, just reading up atm on things i should hunt for equipment wise before going deeper.

What is the easiest order for places to head to from Firelink Shrine and is the bell ringing thing quick to do?  Ive pretty much done nothing since getting to Firelink but i assume its kinda like the central hub thing out of Demons Souls?

Also i noticed you can start naked and just with a club, are you stuck with just a club and no armor for the whole game or can the guy be fully equipped eventually?

You can equip any armor, as any class, at any time.
As long as you have armor.
And armor, well, theres a lot of it.
Anyway, first thing from Firelink Shrine, you want to go to the Undead Burg, which is up a cliff path and through an aquaduct.

Okay, update for my misadventures.
Went to Blighttown through Valley of Drakes. Got owned by gravity.
Poked around Valley of Drakes for a while, looking for the Path of The Dragon covenant.
Got killed by undead dragon.
Utilized the dragon as a pincushion for 20 Heavy Bolts.
Ended up trapped at the top of tower with 3 drakes below.
Do not pass go, do not plan on surviving.
I went back, and then ended up in Darkroot Basin.
Killed the black knight there, got his halberd.
Anyway.
Then I went to the catacombs.
It actually isn't that hard there.
I got past the second push lever thing and killed the third necromancer before dying.
I don't even no why im in there.
Think im going for the Gravelord sword, I think.
anyway, thats my adventure for now.

Hidden wall-door at the top of a large tree root at the bottom of Blight Town will lead you to the Great Hollow. Descend that, carefully, which will bring you to Ash Lake. At the far end of Ash Lake(it's pretty linear) is the Everlasting Dragon and the one you need to talk to.
