Would the Nazgul be the black knight equivalents, or would they be the Dickwraiths?

I was gonna get DS2 for my computer, but my brother says that he looked up some stuff and now he's warning me that if I don't play the first game first, then the story for the second one will seem like gibberish. Is this true?

Nope

There are minor references to certain things but it's not required at all

Basically, anything that comes from someone who's "name was long forgotten" and stuff like that is a veiled reference to the first one. I think that was deliberate, so new people could jump right in.

That said, I'd recommend getting DS1 first, since it's cheaper right now, excellent, and will bring you up to speed. Though DS2 has a better tutorial.

I think they'd be the Four Nine Kings.

I have been trying to get this to run smoothly on my windows 8
Tried using the fix, but it still ran badly. Any ideas?

Just don't watch the trailers. They decided to go with last-gen console parity at the last second. Seeing what the game could have felt like and what it feels like now will make you sad.

Meanwhile the first DS is much celebrated, you should pick it up and play it through even if not for the sake of the story.

Though DS2 has a better tutorial.
I will dispute that by giving example of myself completely missing the entire thing.

Which is exactly why it's good, since you find it by exploring. And looking around every corner for things or more signs. Which is a skill that will serve you for the entire rest of the game. Or you miss everything, fail and hopefully backtrack to discover what you missed. Which teaches you again to search more carefully everywhere.

Teaches you the most important skill in the game either way it happens.

If someone can completely miss the "this is how you attack" bit then it's not a good thing. The ones on backstabbing and such yeah sure, but not the really basic stuff you need to know about the game to be able to function in it at all.

Those fog walls are pretty visible. Did you go past them deliberately, or...?

Though I will admit, it kind of sucks that they did the same thing from the first game in that the tutorial messages still only apply to the 360 controller. It would've been nice if they'd at least detect whether or not you were actually using a controller or the keyboard.

Oh well, at least it's better than the MOBA community. All they want is for new players to cease, since they only want people who are born gud.

I think in general people who play DS really like talking about it and getting other people to like it too.

It's funny how a community known for invading and occasionally being dicks in game tend to be nice to eachother out of it.
