Jagged Tooth Dungeon [Round 1]
« on: February 03, 2011, 10:57:21 pm »

"Hello, Sanjeliza, I would like to play a game."

You are a young half-dragon Marilith. You've been getting used to your role in the world under the tutelage of your Silver Dragon mother. Frolicking in the icy north, while not an ideal childhood for someone with less noble heritage, has been rather fun.

You wake up in a stony room with very little idea of who abducted you. Your wings are bound in chains for the moment, and careful examination reveals that there is a lock on them with a keyhole. There are two swords on the ground which are your only source of light: a longsword, and a rapier. You're rather used to fighting with two weapons anyway, and your mother says someday you will grow two more sets of arms to compliment your single pair. You're wearing nothing but a pair of magic bracers, which has never bothered you before, but is worth noting.

There's just one exit. You're going to call it north for the moment.

Sanjeliza picks up the weapons. Immediately both weapons begin to talk.

Longsword: When he said he had a game he wanted to play with us, I was thinking something intelligent. Like anything but this.
Rapier: I don't know. I kind of like it.
Longsword: What game do you think we're playing?
Rapier: Tic-Tac-Toe!
Longsword: ... Hello, wielder. Would care to just ... leave him here? By any chance?
Rapier: If I had a face I would so make a sadface right now.

Sanjeliza is not impressed.

Sanjeliza is your avatar in the world. She has her own personality, but is perfectly willing to follow orders. To an extent.

The swords are talking for a reason you do not know yet.

A Marilith is a D&D monster originally. (For reference. -> For graphic reference) Sanjeliza is in her early adult years but still only has one set of arms.

Clarity and explanations will come from playing the game, or asking more specific questions. Let us continue forward! :)

Perhaps they know this place better.  It makes the difference between needing to sneak around, and being free to charge northward.

Longsword: Couldn't tell you even if I wanted to. Not exactly.
Rapier: And by "not exactly" he means "yes, exactly, but not exactly."
Longsword: STOP TALKING. And I thought my mentor was cryptic. The only name I've seen this place called consistently is "Fun house." We're in a lich's dungeon, and the man likes to have fun with whoever comes in. He brought you here to defeat him, but he's going to make things tough. It won't look like it at first, but he's got plans for you.
Rapier: And the dungeon changes every time!
Longsword: I was getting to that part! Stop interrupting me, holy fucking Bahamut. Look, this lich is serious about security. Changes all the losers into weapons, and shifts the entire dungeon around every time a new person comes in.

Sanjeliza. Still not impressed.

Wait, so we're half of that and half of http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/dragonTrue.htm#silverDragon .

Wich of the different abilities of each do we have? how does it even work with one being always chaotic evil and the other always good, what is our alignment? Are you using d&d rules or just taking creature ideas from there.

I must admit thou, from a visual standpoint this is an insanely awesome character design.

So what more exactly DO we look like? We're probably huge, we have wings, probably a snake lower body, probably silver scales, probably ice breath, probably awesome magics...

Just take a marilith and add the Half-dragon template, aside from the alignment I don't see a problem there.

Mariliths are large, so they have wings... +4 AC...bite and claw attacks...and an ice breath... and all the stuff a Marilith can do. I kinda imagine her like a scaley Couatl.

For the record, this is an awesome idea for a roguelike.

Sanjeliza enters the northern room. She is presented with two more exits, both to her north, one on the left and one on the right. They are both turns, and she can't see very far down either of them. The swords are magical, and glowing with enough light to make the entire room visible. Visible enough to see an elf dressed up as a druid, and a snake that must be a companion. They are beside you.

I'm not using D&D rules exactly, I am bending them a lot for the purposes of aesthetics, appropriate power, and my own taste for completely deconstructing a system and putting it back together.
And that's what a good GM is all about :D

That's...  odd.  I thought only one person came down here at a time.  So this is either an enemy, a guide, a...  something?
