[33g] fey mood claimed a kitchen and made it a craftshop

What the subject said.

I have a save from just after my dwarf claimed the kitchen and started taking stone to it (yum -- legendary stone soup!).  The workshop stayed a kitchen until the dwarf finished, then it became a craftdwarf's workshop.  Now, it has "prepare lavish meal" on it, which is doubly weird (should be a blank set of jobs, and, preparing lavish meal at a craftshop).

That's a feature, not a bug.

However, you can get seemingly buggy behavior out of it; I once had a jeweler seize a Carpenter's Workshop and turn it into a Jeweler's workshop, which for some reason had two "Make Bed" tasks. My carpenter happily lugged a couple of logs into the Jeweler's Workshop and made the pair of beds. I think it was because there were some "Make Bed" tasks in my manager queue that got assigned between the fey mood-er releasing the workshop and the workshop changing, as generally fey moods will clear all workshop tasks.

Perhaps there should be some message when a workshop is transformed in this fashion, too?  I can see two reasons why:

First, so people know it isn't a bug (this isn't the first time it's been reported.)

And second, more importantly, players need to know that one of their workshops is gone so they can replace it, if necessary.

Maybe go the logical way and regard it as a bug? Because I can not see workshop morphing as an intended feature.

It's been in DF since the 2D versions, if I remember correctly.

I don't think the workshop morphs.  I think the idea is that the moody dwarf reconfigures it into the type of shop he wants.  This is consistent with moods allowing dwarves to do other things that are otherwise forbidden.

Well, Toady says it's intentional, and I think he's the expert on the game's intentions...  but I do think it could be conveyed to the player better.

Perhaps in addition to the announcement that the artifact has been created there could be another announcement, something like "Urist McDwarf has converted the still into a loom!"
Also, do these converted workshops work any better than the stock ones?  Because that would be kind of cool if jeweler's workshop set up by the legendary crafter was more efficient than standard.

Well, it does.  The dwarf takes the kitchen counters, dripping in blood from the chunk of giant cheetahman meat that was being finely minced, and converts it into a dusty craftshop.

This is pretty cool behaviour, now that I know it's not a bug.  But either the shop should revert to its previous state, or else I agree with the others that it should mention "the X shop is now a Y shop."
