Maybe we should create a hierarchy and assign titles'n'such. And let people work on systems on their own if they want to, but if they get worldbuildersblock (That's certainly a mouthful.), they could swap with someon else. And so on. Those are just my ideas, though.

It's only one possibility for the how the setting could be used. We could also go the OA route and use it as the basis for stories.

And define 'some'.
Well, you said a majority of 200, so that would mean there's going to be ~100. Or more.
While, it's theortecially possible that I could design civilization for all of them, I think 20 would be the absolute upper limit to my sanity.

..And, I've not got the drive to write out detailed stories on stuff right now, so I'd probably end up with a few DF styled timelines, and some technology guides.

Yeah, I quite agree.
As fun as it is to shout dibs on things, this would probably work better if "who does what" is less defined by civilization, planet, or system, and more by who can achieve what is needed.

Yeah, I quite agree.
As fun as it is to shout dibs on things, this would probably work better if "who does what" is less defined by civilization, planet, or system, and more by who can achieve what is needed.

I do think people would need to respect others ideas though. Like no reversals of a nations culture or something out of character. Other than that it should be fine.

Method I propose: We do call dibs on something we want, as in systems/specie, and if the rest agrees, solo work. Then post what you've put together here, and we'll all see how well it fits the rest of the picture. No use making a species of peace-loving hippies that have turned non-violence into a religion, when there's another species of warlike cannibals running around. Also, note that civilizations (cultures) <> species.

For me, 2-5 significant cultures/factions and maybe a specie in the off-chance that one gets left over from picking.

SE: Specialty: RPing things that eat folks' brains and writing pretty words to justify doing it, and draining other people's Phlebotinum in the toilet. Translation: chunks of physics, chem, biology, social sciences, and a decent amount of literary skill.

I feel the same, but I find it hard to justify the fiction part with diamond science :D
