anyway it's been mentioned that we will get to control what gets engraved. but what will that mean?

i hope we get general options like 'historical' 'fortress history' 'artistic' and so forth.

I hope we can actually draw the engravings ourselves and then depending on the dwarf's skill level, we get a recreation of what we drew.
Probably ain't happening, but we can always dream, eh? And my art sucks anyway.

I'd LOVE to be able to pick engravings.  The temple is filled with engravings of the goddess.  The barracks are make from engravings of soldiers and dead elves.  The common bedrooms are adorned with engravings of socks.

I'm a bit disappointed in the latest engravings. I tested my Degoblinizer (which dumps thousands of units of Magma on the heads of attackers), and while my engravings do show the deaths of my enemies, there's no mention of Magma. Just "so-and-so the Goblin is making a plaintive gesture". What happened to "running away with his head on fire"?

Due to weird anomalies with how bodies are constructed and how the materials act, there's a very good chance the goblins are bleeding to death rather than suffering the quick, scorching death that would be reasonable or realistic. Even stranger, they're likely bleeding to death because their fat is melting out of their bodies because the fatty tissue melting point is so low it would all liquefy and seep out if you had a high fever.

I don't know. I kind of like the randomly generated ones, just because they sometimes work out so well. For example, my trade depot only has one engraving, a picture of a single menacing spike, set directly in the center of the wall opposite the door. It seems my engraver has mastered the art of subtle intimidation.
