I strongly dislike the infinite ammo thing also. I can live with it because the space battles in Starsector are awesome but I do wish Alex would leave the combat alone for awhile and get on to the juicy tidbits of campaign mode. This game has so much potential.

sooo... speaking of campaigs:

Some dude took up the Exerelin mantle and updated it for 0.65.2a.  Calling it Nexerelin.

Dynamic sector, faction diplomacy, conquering stations, mining, need faction influence for higher tier ships..

Thats the short list.  Some of the old Exerelin are not working in the current version, but it is getting active updates and support.  This is the beginnings of the game I hoped Starsector would be, so I'm pretty happy about this little thing.

Have there been any actual updates to the game?

The guy's mod sounds very cool, and I will check it out, but how are the devs doing? I hadn't realized until I saw this pop up but I haven't heard much about Starsector recently

I posted before looking at the site. I'm gonna give it another go tonight. Looks like not a lot has changed but I do enjoy this game.

I posted about this game about 4 years ago.

I wanted the trading and building and all that.
It seems only now they started making that happen?

Anyone knows why the updates apparently take forever to come out?

I'm not trying to be annoying, I'm just really confused.

Really? For some reason I always pictured it being a team of 5~7+ people.
If that's the case it makes a lot more sense.  :P

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that Alex has a spriter or something working with him.

And, frankly, it's already gone a lot farther than I expected in this time, considering that it's up to something like half a dozen systems and nearly as many factions in vanilla.

Well TBH the development and big patches come almost as often as DF patches.

Also the gameplay for me is kinda ruined by the giant tariffs so despite there being some economy you can't earn a dime unless there is a giant famine somewhere and you happen to have a cargo hold chock full of food.

The easy way is to wait until fleets near the port you're going to are on the far side, building up speed by circling in place while you wait, then zip in to trade before they ping you for a search.

Interesting.

I apologize for sounding like I was flaming or something, but for some reason I always thought it was a big team doing the development.
And from the blog posts I'm pretty sure he must have doubled or tripled the scope of the game since it's inception, since the mechanics seem to have become a lot more involved than what he (probably) originally intended.

Nah, no worries. From what I recall of the early days (back when it was still Starfarer and such) he's always been intending for it to be a full galaxy with all of this stuff. It's just that things like combat mechanics still need balancing; however funny it was at the time, it's not balanced for a full Hegemony fleet to surrender their Onslaughts and everything else to the asshole who kited them around in a Tempest for twenty minutes.
