Yep, I too played it last when it was all just about fuel. I think it was around the update that introduced stealth ships.

So this new development sounds great. I thought it was pretty neat before, though.

How's savegame compatibility, do you have to restart a new game everytime a new version is out?

I think you have to restart but the updates are so slow you likely won't care. the last update (trade) took 11 months.

There hasn't been save-compatibility in this past.  It's not really a big deal if you get decent at starting though, which is definitely the hardest part of the regular campaign.  Gaining money and experience with mediocre fits and skills (and little experience) was pretty difficult, though I think some recent patches increased the number of buffalo mk2 and solo frigate pirate fleets around.

You also periodically get exp for trading (no idea how its calculated but i assume its connected to the ammount you earned from the trade after the tariffs and other whatnot are deducted.

I've been following since the first Alpha, generally I haven't cared about save compatibility because of how limited the game is right now.

The main releases (not the bugfixes) are so far apart (and this one especially added a lot), I'd be surprised if you even could save compatibility. Although the game does give you a warning if you try to load a modded save with less/more mods than it started with.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

The dev is pretty awesome in general with talking to the major modders and learning what they need.

The update makes Starsector a lot more fun to play, since you can actually have an effect on the world etc. Everyone should buy this yesterday!

Oh hey, cool. Looks like waiting paid off, it's come a long way since single-system three-factions and nothing to do once you had your cap ship of choice.

And fuel has gone from being free credits to...about as worth it to sell as metals. Usually.

Funny story, I stopped updating and playing before the trade stuff was implemented, so I have only the most vague notion of what that means. I can surmise from context, though, that selling fuel is a Bad Thing? That, or it's near-worthless.

Depending on how the station is having trade issues or not, fuel seems to range from 1 credit per unit to buy/sell up to about the price of supplies (similar but a bit better compared to how little you'll get from selling quantities of metal to most stations or planets, not counting tariffs if open-market trading), or they need fuel really badly and will buy it for 200+ credits each.

If you need fuel, you just need to remember to raid tankers specifically.  I'm not sure if that's new to vanilla or not.

I've taken to hauling around a couple hundred units of food wherever I go.  Especially when I'm pirate hunting or showing Tri-tac who is boss (Hedgemony ftw).  Where there's a lot of fighting there is a lot of commerce raiding, and where there is commerce raiding, there is food shortages, where there is food shortages there's +200 credit price to food.
