You know these VIP transport shuttles? They're absurdly strong, especially now that you can buy elite crewmembers at the Tri-Tachyon base. Could take down two hounds in a dogfight using my trusty HSS Ridiculous, but now it's gone thanks to three Talon swarms (I essentially turned the thing into a glass cannon, protected with a shield).

Is there any way in which I can buy these pods? I already thought of taking out something cheap and throwing it at a pirate armada in order to get a randomized one, but the chances of getting that one are too slim and I don't really think it's worth blowing that kind of sum of credits for a 3k ship.

Use the restock mod.

Other than that it's only getting yourself blown up and hoping for the best.

If you haven't been following the news from the site, there's been a pair of posts on the blog that explain the fleet encounter and boarding mechanics that are going in the next release (which is probably still a few months off).

I believe Toady said at one point Bay 12 is a reference to Alien, but also the same reference that he named Bay 12 after, or something similar to that.
