I'm not sure if this is an old mission or not but that one with the single battleship on your side vs hordes of hedgemony?   Easy.  Set everything but the tachyon lances and maybe the missiles to autofire.   Everything dies.  Take pot shots with the lances until bigger stuff shows up and then focus them down.   

Occasionally hit F to fire up your fortress shields when you see bombers or torpedoes come in.  And make sure to lower your shields if you get close to overloading. I didn't even vent(forgot the key for it heh) but the constant hurt you are throwing out keeps spiking their flux and they have to keep backing off to vent.  And their damage is pretty low compared to what you can take.   First try and I finished it with something like 90%.  And even that's probably just because I missed blocking a single torpedo.

Paragons are pretty nuts, yes. I generally refuse to engage them on the campaign map.

Ooh, cool. I'll be digging into this update later today when I get some free time. I suspect the new FleetDataAPI will allow me to do some fun new things with my Gun Runners station, like making it sell one of every ship type along with the weapon types.

So expect a new Gun Runners mod version as soon as I get the time to dig into the new API functionality :)

Oh hey, how long has version 1.05 of my mod been deleted from the thread? Just noticed the "Attachment deleted by admin" thing. I wonder why that was done - did he not want to host mod files on the forum?

Ehh, I just deleted stuff older than a couple of months to free up some space. Literally half an hour ago.

Relying on that space for long-term storage isn't a good idea - I have to clear it out periodically, and there's so much stuff that gets uploaded I really can't look through it very carefully when I do.

Hope you still have a copy of the mod somewhere?

Oh, yea, still have copies of the mod. Not relying on it for long-term storage, just a place for other folks to grab the mod painlessly. File sharing services always seem to either go under or just have a timeout period where the file gets deleted after 30 days or so, and lots of ads and annoyances and such. Having it attached to the thread made it really simple to distribute it.

Is it OK to upload the new version to the forum again, then?

Mediafire seems to work fine for me, Paul. I've had things on there for far longer than a month or two. But the forum works just as well for getting stuff. :)

Alright, thanks Alex. Went ahead and put up v1.06 for the new version with all the ships stocked in the station. The new API functionality let me clear out all the mothballed ships from the station and refresh the inventory, so the long-term problem of eventually having the stations get stuffed full of ships won't affect the GR station - and it will always have one of each hull type available, refreshed on each convoy (which come every 30 days).

Now that I'm done with that I'm going to take the time to actually play the new version and try out these new ship systems :)

I'm really excited to get some hands-on time with the new build, it has a fantastic changelog. The new ship systems have really piqued my interest.

Once we get closer to release, maybe some fans of the game could put together a Starfarer file depot for more permanent* storage.

*Relative to the Internet norm.

I'm loving the new systems.

The phase skimmer in particular on the Medusa is fun. I'm finding it useful on a number of occasions. It drops your shields, so you have to be careful using it, but on more than one occasion it has saved me from a bunch of missiles or gotten me out of a bad spot. It's also pretty useful to get that little bit of closing distance needed to take out faster ships and fighters. In one battle fighting a pirate carrier group I used it first to avoid certain death when I got surrounded by fighters, then again to finish off the last member of a Broadsword wing right before it got back to the carrier, then once again to get distance from said carrier and friends so I could vent flux.

I even managed to use it a few times to deliver a death blow with AM blasters by strafing right up to my target and using the skimmer to warp me to the other side of the ship I was targeting right before I fired, although that's tricky since the new smarter AI will drop the shields and immediately raise them on the other side to catch the shot if you aren't fast enough. And if YOU don't raise your shields right after warping the explosion from their ship dying can damage you.
