I recently decided to check it out (since i love being a carrier and sending fighters en masse to do my dirty job and the game lets you do just that).

I realize the game is quite a way from being finished but... is there anything else to do besides hunting pirate scouts and getting murdered the second you accidentaly encounter a pirate armada/raiding group?

Things like trading mining missions ETC. are not yet implemented yet i presume?

Hi - yeah, right now the campaign is a rather thin combat wrapper. While there's still a fair bit work planned on the combat (some of which I'm actually doing right now), most of the effort from here on out will be dedicated to fleshing out the campaign.

Will there be a option to regulate battle size?
The game runs fine on my aincient PC but i fear larger battles (late game) will become unplayable just like in S.P.A.Z. where my FPS could drop to 0.2 at times (yes a screen refresh every 5 seconds).

You can already do this by editing a config file (data/config/settings.json).

Well i liked playing as a CV group acomapnied by a Fighter/Bomber swarm. In fact the game managed to not become unplayable in a large battle because instead of turning into a slide show the game just slowed down as a whole.

And i even managed to like the current "orders" system despite the limied control they give.

As a whole i'd say it's Mount & Blade in space.

The game could use some more dedicated CV ships (the type with 2+ flight decks and a lot of small balistic/energy weapon mounts) since currently the game has mostly Ghetto CVs made out of moded feighters or hybrid Battlecruiser/carriers.

Also the Talon fighters (the cheap ones) seem to be overpowered for their price. 2400 for one flight of 4... and they only use 3 command points so i can send 12 of them at the 3 or so advanced fighters the enemy might have for the same price/cp and they will come out of the engagement losing only 2 or less of their own.
Same thing goes for Wasp drones but at least those things are expensive standing at over 3 times the proce of one Talon wing.

And lastly... why don't you guys make a Demo? The alpha version would be ideal for that if you add jumpgates or something and tease the player that there are systems beyond the one you are currently in.
It's horrible i had to download a cracked version just to know if the game runs on my PC at all (and it runs like a charm unlike most modern games indie or not) before thinking about buying it (and i'm going to do just that when i get my next salary).

Honestly, did you expect anything else Anvil? Its rather sad for people to be pirating indie games (and a not very expensive one at that!), but people will still crack anything they can.

Not only cracked but also mocked by the cracker since apparently the devs included a message to the would be cracker to not do it.

10$ actually can be a lot depending on where you live. In my case 10$ is more or less the price or a good re-release.
I'd also dare say that withour any proper demo piracy will only escalate because people would rather test before they buy and testing on pirated full version usually ends up in the player not buying it at all.
Besides people are usually stingy when it comes to money.

Recently got the game and loving it oh so very much. Quick question though, is there any way to buy a specific amount of crew in campaign mode? I am having trouble finding groups that are less than the 500 green recruits, and have not yet figured out how to split them. Its making me raeg just a tad bit.

EDIT: Nevermind! Found out how to do it directly after that post! Just have to shift click.

If you shift + click and HOLD LMB you can move left and right for a slider to appear so you don't have to click 250 times whne you need 250 of something.

There will (very likely) be a demo in the future. Just not right now.

Right now, the game is still in constant development. Spending some of that time building a demo would increase the workload on the (very small) pool of available resources. It means two version to maintain instead of just one, which slows down the progress of the main branch considerably.

In my opinion, the Let's Play videos on YouTube are a very good introduction to the game, and give most people a good idea on how much they'll like it (or not). I know it's not the same as a demo, and I understand the importance of them -- but it just isn't in the cards at this stage.

Once the game is at 1.0, I'm reasonably sure we'll see some sort of demo package.

a demo with tutorial and some simple missions (1 easy, 1 medium 1 hard mission) probably wouldnt take that long to throw together.
maybe add the codex too to it so people can stare what else they would get for ships/weapons in the full version.
or some campaign teaser like 5 min or a ingame week or few days or so, then it throws you back to main menu.

IMO even a performance test screensaver in the style of the main menu background would work better than a time-limited demo.

Maybe Alex could rerelease an earlier but relatively bug-free and featured version like what we currently have as a demo, when we gets a few more updates.

For some reason sound comes only from the left speaker when I'm playing in windowed mode (fullscreen works correctly). What may be the cause?

Same thing happens here. Restart the game and see if that helps, at least it worked for me.

Feels like a random bug.
