The shuttle is not easy to fight with if you're outnumbered, I'd say.

Okay, so the retreating is a little wonky in sandbox mode, but in missions, it is just absurd.

On another note, the scoring seems a little out of whack as well. I just got a 38% on Nothing Personal, despite destroying or disabling every enemy ship except one Enforcer and one wing of Broadswords that managed to retreat, while losing only one wing each of Xyphos, Dagger, and Wasp strikecraft, and taking 0 hull damage to my flagship. Wat.

You're probably still on half damage mode.  Check your game options.  Half damage (the default) gives half score.

Thank you! I didn't even know that existed.  :-X

Well, sure, the player needs half damage so not only can they have an easier time learning, and getting started in campaign, but also so they can pull of crazy shit and so they can counter the AI which appears to be frigging good at pissing me off with it's intelligence on flanking. :P

Also, does anyone else go ramming speed on shieldless ships (like that Buffalo destroyer) or ships that lost their shields when you've got your own, strong shield? I've found that ramming my destroyer into them is a very effective at getting your bullets on target quick and is also effective at preventing your target from firing back. Also does a fair bit of damage.

Being closer does help hit them, yeah.
Also makes it like twice as fast to overload your shields if they still have guns and you didn't notice.

That is a risk. However, the damage it does to the enemy makes it a good tactic in my opinion if you simply must have a ship downed quickly.

So I've been playing 0.5a and enjoying for the most part. I've had very little success in getting into the campaign yet - generally what happens is I get overconfident once I have two or three destroyers and go after something bigger, only to have my brainless minions either go coward on me and refuse to fight, or go charging off alone into the main concentration of enemy ships instead of following me (and their assigned target) who's off to the side.  Because of that, I've not earned enough yet to pick up my own destroyer or anything larger, but I've still been having fun.

1 - all mounts as omni small/medium/large. If I manage to get my hands on some advanced energy weapons, it'd be nice if I had more then one or two ships that even equip the things.
2 - Ability to choose your starting ship at the time of choosing your portrait and name. I've restarted several times to get away from ship classes I'm not fond of. (Brawler or the frigate with a LRM mount are... non-optimal.)
3 - This is more of a wish, but while I like the ability to customize, I'd like even more options. Like being able to salvage the engine array from an advanced ship and building it into my own, or coming across a set of more advanced shield emitters on the market and snapping them up.  These effects are somewhat handled by hull modifications, but more customization options would be nice.
4 - Starter ships need more cargo space. While it doesn't matter right now as cargo limits are ignored, some of the destroyers have next to no cargo space and would necessitate frequent returns to space stations to sell the one item they have room to salvage.

You can mod this in; I did. There are omni mounts (UNIVERSAL, actually, but yeah), but they're quite rare. Weapons loadout is part of the faction fluff-type stuff, from what I've picked up.

Try-tach ships are much more heavily slanted toward energy weapons. There's a mini-mod adding in a TTT station a few pages back, otherwise you'll have to hunt and salvage. Sometimes the hegemony station'll sell some, though. You can usually sell your starter and pick up a wolf right off the bat, if you really feel like it.

Das why you have freighter-type ships! I think the cheapest frigate currently purchasable is one of those, and quite roomy. Which is to say it's probably intentional, and you're going to be expected to have have logistic ships in the full game, if you don't want to be making frequent stops.

Yeees.... I'm well aware of those stupid jerks and their stupid energy weapons that massively outrange anything you start with. (I thought I'd pick off a survivor of one of their insane station attack runs. It... didn't work out well. I agree with what someone else was saying - players are going to only collect TT gear, Their ships are simply far more powerful then the ballistic designs.)

On the logistics - probably, but unless the cheapest freighter can be purchased with your starting credits (and doesn't leave you so slow that you can't catch any of the beatable pirates), then you're still stuck for a while.

BMTMicro isn't bad, I've used it before for a different game.

More to the point though, look in the Payment method dropdown under Payment Information. Theres a Paypal option. click on that and it rearranges the page to fit a paypal purchase. (read: removes all of the input boxes and adds a paypal button instead)

Version 0.51a was released earlier today. Lots of nice bug fixes. Changes can be found here. Get it here.

Looks like my Tri-Tachyon station mod is no longer needed, since Alex added a Tri-Tachyon station and a pirate station too. More content is always nice. Can't wait until we get multiple systems and travel between them.

I released a new version of my mod with all the Tri-Tachyon station stuff removed (so basically just the gun runner station now) which you can get here if you want it. I suspect it won't be near as popular as the previous versions, since a lot of folks got it for the TT station. Wound up getting 727 downloads on the 1.03 version, which was pretty surprising considering the entire Starfarer forum only has 1147 members (although I'm sure plenty of lurkers downloaded it without ever registering).

The Gun Runners are still rather useful, Paul. Their station is like a big pile of useful stuffs.
