Heh. Maybe link surrendering to the relative ship counts and tonnage estimates for each side?


On a related note, I'm rather glad you're changing this, because trying to get into a real fleet battle and having the enemy cap ships all retreat because I fried their fighters and frigates from halfway across the tactical map with Tachyon Lances was a bit annoying.


Unrelated: probably the most annoying thing I've encountered thusfar is that when trading at a station, it is quite common for the player's inventory/cargo list to not scroll down, making anything below the cutoff inaccessable while trading, and also for the scrollover tooltips to not appear for things in the player's inventory. I've noticed that this happens much more frequently with larger fleets than single ships.

Huh, I haven't see that before, and it's hard to imagine why that would happen (though clearly, it does). If you get a save where that happens, would you mind sending it my way?

Okay, I've run about a dozen test games, and it is only showing up in ones which included Paul's mod (though the issue appears in the original Hegemony station as well as the 3T one). From what I can tell, it is a problem with the mod, rather than the game itself.

Thanks for trying to track it down. Seems unlikely it's mod-specific, too, but then it seems unlikely in general, so something must be causing it.

Oh, and I've done a bit more testing, and it seems to show up more frequently when a good deal of time has passed, regardless of fleet size. So it usually won't show up either with or without the mod, regardless of fleet size, within the first couple weeks of gametime. I think I was associating it with fleet size because in all my games thusfar I haven't had any sort of substantial fleet for quite a while into a given game.

Never had that problem personally, with or without my mod.

Don't see how my mod could be causing anything, though - unless simply having more cargo being generated could cause it, since I have double the stations hence double the cargo being delivered into the system.

Time spent without doing any hull damage, while taking some. It's reasonable enough to retreat in that situation, but not with the "surrender" mechanics the way they are. Ahem.
Huh. Does that mean that fleets with shieldless ships are particularly vulnerable to retreat? That'd explain why hegemony and pirates (and the independents, I guess...) are so retreat prone, what with the prevalence of hounds and shieldless fighters in their composition.

I ran into that bug (while using Paul's mod). I think clicking sort fixed it and let me scroll, but I'm not sure.


I rather liked the new mission "Forlorn Hope." Everyone who enjoys charging into battle without support ships should try it.

Oh man, this game is do damn addicting.

But I seriously overestimate my chance of winning, again and again. Argh! :P

My only complaint is that the game needs a tutorial on refitting because the "This slot on a ship can fit this kind of weapon" symbols were completely unknown to me for a very long time.

Yeah, clicking fixed it occasionally for me as well.

And I like the sound of that mission; support ships are only there to get in the way of your fire.

lol, TB was bashing on the shuttle - but it's actually not half bad. I just took out a hound/lasher combo, then found a Condor carrier flying around with nothing but a talon wing and took them out too. Could easily get back on my feet if it dumped me in a shuttle.
