The Omen is quite nifty, though all I've been able to do force a singular lasher-class to rertreat after it (probably) ran out of ammo.

Well, in an interesting situation here, trying to capture one of those cap ship high tech carriers that was alone, so I saved and tried. It usually wipes my entire fleet pretty much, but dies in the process, so I'm tempted to keep savescumming and try and capture it.  :P

I updated my little minimod, had a crash error because I was referencing a ship variant that doesn't exist in the resupply fleet. Whups.

Mmm, had a beautiful start for my first game with your mod. Vigilance-class frigate, and I stripped out the missile launcher right off, and put in boosted engines and turret gyros; it makes an excellent raiding craft, as the pulse laser is heavy enough to take down pretty much anything. I've even been having a bit of fun leading civilians and pirates into each other, to thin the herd. I've got somewhere in the neighborhood of 27000c, once I finish repairing and sell the wing of bombers I captured most recently, and I think I may just ship straight to cruisers.

I just had a crazy capture. I started in a Wolf and changed out the small beam weapons for PD lasers (I put some of them for sale at the TT base right off, and they can restock in either base) and flew around blowing up small pirate fleets. PD lasers are excellent for taking out missiles. After a bit of this I traded in my Wolf and a Lasher I had captured for a Medusa. I put PD lasers on all the small turrets and graviton beams on the medium turrets, hardened the shields, augmented the engines, and got the optics thing that increases beam range. It's a surprisingly effective destroyer, especially good at taking out fighters. I attacked a pirate carrier group and wiped out all the fighters (two broadsword wings, 2 piranha wings, 2 talon wings - those broadswords are mean, but the Medusa has some amazing shields) and then started harassing the carriers, and they all fled.

The great part? Every one of them surrendered at the end, I made a fortune selling them all. A Venture, two Condors, a Tarsus, and a Buffalo. Even boarded one of the Broadsword wings I had destroyed.

If I had to have a complaint about the TT base, its that its so far away from everything else its annoying if your fleet is getting slower.

This. Even with a very light raiding group, it takes quite some time to get there. Not that you can control that, given that it is the spawn for the 3T forces.

Err easy trick:

Sell your starting ship. You are now in "noship-ship" and move at insane speed.
You can also start a fight in your "ship-less fleet", lose and get a new ship to sell. This works effectivly until you have like 20 000 cash or so, then the win-lose margin isen't worth the time.

Exploits ahoy!

Another potential exploit:

Save up enough credit to buy a single Onslaught battleship, stuff it full of flaks and Hypervelocity Drivers on all not-missile not-large slots to solve the problem with missiles, Piranhas, Broadswords and enemy shields, and you will be able to mow through pirate fleets like no other, without ever needing to pursue them down. A few outing with this is usually enough to build an entire fleet to deal with tougher ones like the 3T.

Well. I just ended up in what looked like a hopeless battle: my Medusa-class destroyer (with 2x AM, 2x autocannon, 2x Pulse Laser, 3x LR PD Laser) against a pair of pirate cruisers. I autoresolved, and the game decided that I won the battle with no damage, destroying both cruisers outright.

How is that an exploit? sounds like a balancing issue possibly, but battleships are supposed to be tough anyway.

Mweeheeheehee, I just had two onslaught battleships surrender to me (and my paragon) <3

And then I sold them.

... then went and bought an odyssey, because hell, why not?

Haha, I looted a bomb bay (I assume from piranha wreckage? not sure) and put it on my Medusa.

5 PD lasers, 2 graviton beams, and a bomb bay. Augmented engines, advanced optics, and hardened shields. This ship is fun. Fighters get shredded by the grav beams and lasers, and big ships I can take down their shields and unleash the bombs. The shields hold out for ages too, I can take several wings of broadswords and piranhas together without taking any damage as long as I keep them from surrounding me (which isn't that hard with the speed of 151 thanks to my elite crew).

A carrier fleet with a bunch of bombers and fighters is more powerful, but as far as single ships go I think this might be the most overpowered destroyer build in the game. I found a pair of onslaughts that had the rest of their fleets destroyed and was able to wipe them out with ease. I flanked one of them and released bombs right up behind it and blew it to pieces.
