Remember folks every screenshot takes time out of development!  Sure it may seem like a simple thing to just hit alt-print screen during testing, but they probably have to be cleared with the guys over in marketing.  And the guys over in marketing are probably very busy programming the game, drawing sprites, brewing coffee and figuring out what to wear for casual friday!
Haha, I like this.

Edit: Ray Bradbury watching this thread for updates:

Alright, guys, here you go!

... now I seriously have to get back to coding. That took way longer than you'd think - you know, getting past the marketing department and all :)

That is, uh, if you use Eclipse for your work. What do you use?

Yep, Eclipse. Good guess.

The masses are sated. For now...

Also, that seems... in efficient. Shouldn't you have some unpaid intern to run around and get you coffee, ferry screenshots to the marketing department, etc?

Aye, you need an intern.

May I suggest an annoying sibling?

~15 days more to go. I suppose I'll play some Mount and Blade while I wait. Hopefully by that time I would stop dreaming about this game in my sleep.

You're so awesome for giving us more screenshots, alexm. And I agree that you need to find a slave helpful unpaid assistant. We'll stop bothering you for a bit ... blame us if you don't get an alpha out by the end of the month.

This is a good idea ... I haven't played in a few months, starting to feel the itch again. Time to look for mods!

Bah, interns. I'm the unpaid intern, lead dev, and half the marketing department rolled into one!

blame us if you don't get an alpha out by the end of the month.

That's the plan. Well, actually, the plan is to make the April release date, but the above is Plan B.

:) Just trying to wrap up various (at this point, small-ish) issues. Aiming for April 30th as an alpha release date - hopefully this should preclude further vanquishings of hope by pre-April-30th posts here.

Going to put out a manual in the next couple of days, too. There IS a tutorial, of course, but there's way too much to explain in just the tutorial. The idea is the tutorial gets you enough info to start playing, but if you're interested in some of the finer points, then you've got the manual.

My main concern right now is that the missions may be too difficult. There are mechanics that are not as apparent as I'd like ... yet.

Hey, DF players are veterans at obtuse game mechanics and difficult circumstances. I'm sure we'll do fine. :)

This is true.

April 30th is the tentative "big day" for the ol' alpha release, then -- that's awesome. On a weekend, too!
