I love how excited this community gets about an alpha release of an unfinished (though admittedly awesome looking) game. :)

@Comp112 You guys should play some cooperative games together on the 360. My wife liked ... *strains memory* ... Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 (though it may have been for the original Xbox, it worked on the 360), X-Men Legends ... man, crap. I can't remember very well after all, and I'm too lazy to go looking through boxes since we're remodeling the house now. There's a bunch on XBLA, I'm sure. Check the Wikipedia entry for it, see if any of the local coop games strike your (or her) fancy. Might help with the boredom!

I've been looking forward to Starfarer's release in a big way. Portal 2 is going to be awesome as well. You have good taste, sir, and I feel your pain at having to wait around for these great games to show up.

@forsaken1111: Haha, yeah. We're a special group.  :D

@alexm: My excitement for this game is irrational in its potency. If you ever need a little motivation, leave a message here and I'll try to describe the tiniest portion of my anticipation.

@Starfarer: I NEED YOU

Why is it every time this thread gets updated, my hope of seeing the alpha release is dashed by other people saying that they can't wait for it?

Because you aren't the only one to be waiting for this.

Incidentally, I will be testing the shit out of this game if it is even 1/10th as awesome as it looks in those combat videos.

Then I will be testing it exactly 1/10th as much as you. In other words, I will test it equally as much as it is awesome, then give feedback and wait for next update.

Thanks guys, good to know there's some feedback coming my way after the release. Looking forward to it.

Sorry to do this to you again :)

Well you see, I would go buy more games, but my bank account is considerably empty. Spent a good $520 on stuff (about, oh, 80 on taking her out to eat a few times.) and thus, have no more cash.

We actually love playing games together, she is more the casual type, but prefers playing more hardcore games. Guess what I am saying is, she is not very good.

Fun to play Minecraft with a loved one though. If you haven't done that, you really should.

Oh, I can relate. Our financial situation is pretty bleak right now, even buying Starfarer took some thought and it's not expensive to pre-order.

My wife is actually pretty good at hardcore games (she plays and enjoys Dwarf Fortress, which still surprises me), but she has a VERY short fuse and no patience for other people in MMOs.

We do play Minecraft together (haven't since the 1.4 update, though, might do that this weekend). It's always fun. She shrieks and flings her mouse whenever a creeper or something pops out at her, so I'm very good at dodging now.

On topic: saw the Starfarer twitter note that alexm is working on the tutorial bits. And enjoying it! Progress is being made, gentlemen.

Tutorial?  What's a tutorial?  Is that just another name for spending weeks on the forums and a wiki to learn how to dig into a wall and then become accustomed to the death of your dwarves as you attempt moderate difficulty projects like water cisterns that end in complete disaster?

Woot!  Can't wait to accidentally flood my flagship with magma! :D

A tutorial is a rather novel idea for us, eh?

Magma flooding sounds like a good motivator for a slack crew.
