And yeah, skill tree is going to get some tuning. Generally the arc of major patches like this is a balance pass or few over the next couple of months before things settle into chugging away on the next major patch.

Yep, the "issue" being the several months between release and "fix", and year(s) between new major release.
I’ve been around since 2011 and it’s getting slower and slower.
Great game though, and art direction will make it good even in 50 years, but still. Slooooow.

Feels like thats every early access game - they all have speed at first, but eventually bog down like a tiger tank in a swamp.

Feels like that's a lot of games, to be honest. Between Dwarf Fortress, free to plays, and Paradox's 8 years of DLC policy, "game in near perpetual development" seems pretty unremarkable these days.

Hopefully 0.95.1a doesn't take too long.

Yah, it sounds like minecraft with content, you have obviously missed the point, people dont like content, they like different coloured blocks.
Seems to work fine with my copy. As soon as I loaded the human caravan came by and the world burst into fire.

Yeah, I don't see it as a huge deal especially considering how cheap it is. The modding community is amazingly active & robust, and while development may be slow it's never really stopped. One can always set it down for a little while and come back to it later. I've been playing it off and on for over 9 years now, and definitely have gotten my money's worth.

I haven't been playing it as long as that, but, yeah. Play a ton, leave it for a year, come back after the game/mods have major updates. Definitely gotten my money's worth!

It's great that it's very moddable though. I think a lot of the changes that people don't like can be reverted or tweaked

regarding smod SO: my idea was to have the chance of the ship being recoverable when blown up nerfed.
tbh illadvised modifications is not even an issue with officers that extend peak performance time and hardened systems.

Ill-Advised Modifications causes periodic malfunctions on the ship even when it's at peak CR; this can range from a single gun shorting to a disastrous flameout.

interesting!
well i guess the tooltip for the mod can be understood like that, but it is a bit missleading. i assumed it was tied to low cr.
i whish the game would state effects a bit more clearly at times. might not be as prosaic, but i would appriciate if it would note the effects without any fluff.

Oh I understand the confusion, sorry I was unclear.

Personally I find Nexerelin almost required for starsector these days so I'm quite excited.

Nex, Better Colonies, Industrial Evolution, and (eventually when it hits 6.0) Terraforming and Station Construction mods are my core mod set.

My core mod set is pretty much that as well.

I enjoy the various ship/faction packs, but they tend to be a bit more fluid regarding versions, and I don't think there are any that I absolutely would not want to play without.
