So through salvage and defensive maneuvering I have managed to acquire A Moira(?)-class carrier and a falcon-class light cruiser(?)--I've got two wolfs and two hammerheads as well. Most of the fleet is d-modded but has performed admirably I'm not in danger yet, but the level of salvage I'm pulling in now isn't going to cut it with the new supply & fuel costs. I'm still in the core worlds area, so where do I go to fight some tougher baddies??? Also, can I take on scavenger fleets or will Hegemony get on my ass?
EDIT: I have to admit, the Moira is very draining. 100 min crew req. + slow as all fuck. However. In battle, this is actually kind of a good thing. I am but a humble rookie, but this strategy has allowed me to destroy larger fleets. The Moira tanks hits. I mean....... I watched this thing just turn off it's shields and tank a falcon for like 30 seconds with no damage taken. By having my hammerheads escort the Moira and the Wolfs escort the Hammerheads, it forms free flowing arms of a sorts. While it may sound useless, it not only keeps the bulk of the enemy fleet at distance, but it also entices the enemies support vessels to come in when the wolfs need to phase out. I carry a number of low-ammo high-damage torpedoes that basically end smaller vessels careers in 30 seconds. What ends up happening is the enemy grinds its support down trying to get your wolfs leaving its capital ships with no cover--then all you have to do is swoop in for the kill. The weakness is the hammerheads, since they're not very maneuverable they sometimes wander a little too close to the enemy, which if timed poorly, I.E. when the Wolf phases out, they end up taking a lot of hits. Generally though, the Moira is tanked enough to create some space when a Hammerhead is getting overwhelmed.
... What was a talking about again? Oh ya, the Moira's a bitch to lug around though.
