I've lived most of my life in Indiana and really really really hate it.
The greater Indianapolis area is ok. Still not a great place, but at least you can meet decent people occassionally and there are some good things that go on (Gencon, for instance).
Outside of that, the entire state is absolute shit. Majority of people are corrupt, xenophobic, and nasty. There's nothing to make up for it in the landscape or ecology and especially the economy. Even the weather sucks. It's extremely erratic. Temperature swings of 30-40 degrees F are common at all times of the year, and spring & fall are practically non-existant. This causes all but the most important roads all over the state to be in constantly terrible condition. Job selection outside of Indianapolis is extremely limited, and selection of jobs that match cost of living around Indianapolis isn't much better. If your life doesn't revolve around some combination of sports, christian fundamentalism, bigotry, drinking, and meth, you are almost guaranteed to be miserable in Indiana unless you live close to Indianapolis... which is slightly better.
It's also a very difficult place to escape. Most people I know hate it here and want to get out. Few do. Most who do are eventually forced to return somehow.
I hate whichever state has people that think of Canada stereotypically.
Lots of hoosiers seem to hate Canada for some reason. I've never figured out why. But then, they hate a lot of things.
