The elvish diplomat just arrived to make the first tree contract with my fort.  He gave the standard initial message, saying they'd allow 100 trees.  I selected the nicer option ("discuss the details")... and he came back saying they could allow only 64 trees.

Now I could understand this if I'd been uncooperative, but I wasn't.  The only thing I can think of is that my countess has maxed (and then some) all her social skills.  Maybe the bonus from Negotiation (or whichever is used) is backwards or overflowed?

Edit: If it matters, I did a lot of tree cutting, but not recently.  I'm on a 3x3 site, and I denuded it a few years ago, so I've just been getting slow trickles of trees since.

The elves, when you discuss, NEVER (from my experience) let you have the full 100 (or more).  The number allowed is fairly random.  I've had it go from 60 to 30 back up to 40.  All when not-cutting trees.
