Great job incorporating the clear exoskeleton.

Ask not why my wasp has raptorial forelimbs - ask why yours does not.

I think wierd's WIP inititiative is a good idea. I've been sketching Enira during my free time at work but I probably won't finish it in time for cut off. This is what it actually currently looks like on paper before I inverted the colours in mspaint for a quick clear-exoskeleten-in-the-dark-caverns effect:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It's only pencil so it's a bit light. There's still a lot I want to add, like the smaller set of wings, and I was also considering more Frankensteinian additions from others bugs. Because I never clearly know what I'm drawing when I start I always end up running out of paper like in this case. There's also a better than even chance that I will completely ruin it by working on it more and then decide to throw it in the bin, so consider this my entry unless I put up an update.

Thats really cool. I would like to see it with more predominant lines. It would make it easier for me to see
But other then that. Its freaking awesome

Currently throwing together background, midground, and foreground layer pixel arts. Whipped out my prefab "ok, MSpaint's pallet sucks, I'll make my own" pallet.  Doodling in plump helmets, rocknuts and pigtails on the foreground layer now.

Ok, this hasn't gotten "the treatment" with photoshop to adjust the chroma, luma, and alpha between the layers, but here is a "quick and dirty" layer composite done in pure MSPaint.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Photobucket may have mangled some of the details... but meh.

The idea here is to go for the "covered with cavern fungus" effect for the floor. The midground layer needs lots of color manipulation, but I can do that with photoshop when I do the *real* compositing.

The plan is to put dead and dieing dwarves and the wasp FB on the midlayer (with lots of blood), and a crossbow dwarf peering around the safety of the big pillar in the foreground layer, then superimpose the screen cap FB description text centered at bottom.

Foreground isn't complete. Grey vine around pillar will have little dark red sweetpods on it eventually.

It's amazing what you can do with the spraypaint tool in MSPaint isn't it :D

It will look sexier when it has been properly composited with additional sweeps of color layers and burn/dodge layers to better control the pixel colors.

The wasp itself will be in a transparentized layer, and be treated with the eraser brush on 10% pressure, to selectively translucify it's exoskeleton, and permit the background pixels to show through. MSPaint lacks that functionality, so I am just building the component pixel art layers with it.

So, you really think it looks good? I am unhappy with the color balance of the midlayer.

It's probably the "trannsylvania purple" in the background view. :D

I needed colors of a different hue and temperature to balance all the cold colors in the foreground.

*contemplates making the wasp bioluminecent

Ok, a little more WIP.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Used GIMP for the compositing, which is not as familiar to me as photoshop.. but I think it looks alright.

Still needs dead dwarves, and the sniper dwarf. I will pixel up those tonight if possible.
