e may or man not equal mc ^2

Elephant dwarf marmot cat trap remains

...don't the dwarves usually produce multiple earrings out of a single stone when it's not an artifact?

Giant badgers are cruel saddistic balls of fur and hate. Did anyone know they could paint a wall with a single dwarven baby?.... You know what, I made the Giant badgers sound like sane DF players.

I got an entire bed carved from a single alexandrite once.  that would be spectacular, considering the stone changes color in differing sorts of light.

Just thought I'd poke my nose in to say that last time I happened by the Dwarven Physics page of the Wiki, one of the sponsored ad-lines at the bottom (which may be being blocked by the firewall, at this place..., it's still whirring away and giving me nothing) was for something that was essentially a large-scale laser-interferometer purportedly capable of detecting space-time distortions.

Dug through my recent internet history[1] and I can reveal that the exact ad text was "GravitationalWaveDetector Unique design measures variations in the rate of flow of time".  There, I bet you wanted to know that.  (Looks like my brain filled in a lot of the extra details, but it is roughly what I said...)

Perpetual motion machines. Recursive artifacts. Disappearing rock. The DAS. Animals that need no food and can therefore run for days. Just wait; he'll clear them up by the next version if we're unlucky.

And so we have Urist's theory of certainty: You can be certain of what scientific advancments the feild of physics will make next, if you read the dev blog.

And only in Dwarf Fortress can you compress a metric ton (if done right) of stone into a single earring, weighing less than a pound.
Or, as another forum user thought, just take that metric ton of stone and add a hook to the top.

Which somehow makes it weigh less than most anything else in the game.

Exactly.

It may also be worth noting that under certain conditions, including being modified by a dwarf in a strange mood, an object's composition and elemental properties can be changed drastically. I suppose I should perform !!SCIENCE!! to find out if my hypothesis of the cause was correct.

Actually, curiosity combined with copious amounts of magma killed the dwarf.

It violates the laws of cause and effect, too. I just had an artifact pick made with an image of itself on it.

Do we really need to have the recursive artifact discussion again?

Yes, do we really need to have the recursive artifact discussion again?

On the thread, there is an image of Artifacts: laws of physics need not apply, the Bay12 forum thread in png and posters. The posters are talking about Artifacts: laws of physics need not apply.
